Yearning for a slice of pie with a tender crust and juicy, fruity insides just like grandma used to make? Patrick and Candace Cousineau can help. The owners of Pies Plus Café, deep in Calgary’s suburban southeast, they make some of the city’s best pies and baked goods. A gem of a dessert house located in the Avenida Village shopping centre just off Macleod Trail, Pies Plus has been serving fresh, made-to-order pies and other scrumptious goodies for 25 years.

The homey café seats 28 but it feels like a comfortable living room with its large windows and warm, russet and forest-green accents. The artwork and pottery displayed on the café’s walls are available for purchase.
