There are several pubs in the Kensington area, but The Side Street Pub & Grill is the only that devotes itself to sports and games. Mike Shupenia co-owns the establishment with his wife Sarah. He believes anyone of any lifestyle can find common ground in football, cards, beer, pizza and burgers.

“We have such a diverse crowd here all the way from the hipster, blue collar, older and younger, so we pretty much have one beer for every single person,” he says. Illustrating his point, the bar's taps range from familiar Molson lagers to Granville Island craft brews. As he talks about the diversity of his patrons, lunchtime customers walk up and say hi. He responds in kind with a smile, calling each by name.

Great Prices and Relaxed Atmosphere

This pub is usually quite empty so its perfect for big groups - you can sit anywhere you like and be as loud as you like. Quite honestly, I don't understand why its not busier. The prices are amazing and the staff are very friendly. It's trendy location is awesome and its a great place to relax and play some pool
