Station Street Grill

We went to Station Street Grill a while ago, but didn't get a chance to write a review, we waited long for the food and when it came, it was partially burnt and with a nasty piece of hair in it, and when we asked for the owner to complain, an angry birded individual appeared and didn't seem to be in the mood to listen to our complaint, but we presented our complaint anyway, what a rude individual, and some told us that he verbally abuses his employees, what a nasty individual, we'll never go there again even (needless to say).

Not sure why....

Not sure why the previous two reviewers had bad experiences. We've always had good ones @ Station Street enroute to the cottage. The place is nothing fancy but the grub has always been good and the service timely.

Like Einstein, I will never attend this place again. I think it has changed owners as I have never seen the cook before , who is the owner now. I ordered one order of Halibut fish (2 Pieces) for TAKE -OUT. When I left I told them that they had the best fish in the city. When I got home I opened the order and I got two small pieces of Fish that actually was one cut in half. I paid $11.00. I called the owner and told him that he must have known that this order was light. He offered to make it right If I came back, but why should that have happened. When I told him I was gonna tell everyone about this he hung up on me. Great customer service!! This resturant is going to go out of business for sure. Don't give them the time of day.

Fish and Chips Take Out

I ordered Fish and Chips for take out. The service was friendly. The Fish was okay a little too battery for my liking. I would have expected a bit more for the Halibut. Chips were not bad but could have been cooked a bit longer. It satisfied my craving however. I will go back.

Great Fish & Chips

Great food... have only done take-out (fish & chips & salad) and it was good food, reasonable price, quick and big portions. Next to try out at Station Street is breakfast- hear it is great as well.

I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. One evening I felt like having a burger, we just received their flyer in the mail so we decided to go. I ordered the steak, I knew it usually takes longer, but wanted it anyway. 20min later I managed to finally get the attention of a server and ask aprox how much longer it would be..... turns out the kitchen staff never got my order. so quickly they rushed to get it together, didn't even appologize. So I asked to speak to the manager. The manager finally came, seemed very irrated that I dared ask what was taking so long, didn't bother to applogize either, finallt after 30min I received a BURNT STEAK BURGER WITH WILTED LETTUCE! I will never set foot in this place again, nor recommend it to anybody

My wife and I are regulars here. The menu is limited, but the food is always good. The fish and chips are great, the home-made hamburgers are super too. The staff is friendly, efficient and chatty. Nice.

Impressive

We were hungry and happened to stumble upon this gem. Really clean and nice server. Gracious and attentive. Food was great! We found portions to be quite large. Nice relaxed environment. We definately will go back...want to try the breakfast menu.

With A Side of Hair

I order my breakfast special - scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, homefries and toast; it doesn't take too long at all to get the order but when I get it, there is a piece of hair in my eggs. The waitress takes it back and brings me back my plate with fresh eggs, with yet another piece of hair in it! I tell the waitress takes it back all embarassed and brings the plate back with my third order of eggs. Finally I got a good serving of eggs. But as I'm eating the homefries, I pick one up and see a piece of black hair lying on top of another homefry. I was fed up at this point. I told the waitress again and she apologized. Needless to say, I didn't finish that meal. I didn't get any sort of discount on the bill, the place still charged me full price. The food was not that bad, and the prices were good, but I'd rather my food didn't come with the complementary side of hair.

We eat here frequently. Brunch is always good. If there is a line up it moves quickly. Alsi had a few dinners here when life is hectic. Good menu when eating with picky pick.

Station Street is good, but it seems everything is extra. I would expect when I ordered a burger it would at least come with fries. I had to flag down the waitress to get more water, and my wifes meal (salmon) wasnt worth the price.

We eat here weekly. The best place in Durham for breakfast, and a competent menu for other meals and snacks. Great souvlakis, fish and chips and just about anything else you want. Service is consistently friendly and fast, and the food will not disappoint. You will enjoy it. Say hi to Cheryl!!

Service was not as expected. Very rushed in taking the order. Very cold atmosphere. Not much time to make up ones mind, especially if it is your first time in the restaurant. Not much explanation on the items that you order. Very big servings, which are good, but it would be great if it was better explained on the menu. Decor needs to be updated and the seating needs to be revamped. Maybe a restaurant makeover!!!!

This restaurant was recommended by a friend and it was our first visit. It's bright, clean and very roomy. The fish & chips were amazing! It was fresh, tasty fish with crispy batter and delicious chips and... piping hot!! A suggestion I would make would be to add mushy peas to the fish & chip menu! Also good coffee and pleasant, fast service. We will definitely go back - many times!!

I have eaten at this restaurant several times over the past couple months since friends of mine suggested that I try it out. The food is always well prepared and the atmosphere is bright and cheery. This was the first time that I tried the steak dinner and the steak was quite tender and juicy.The salad and vegetables were great as well. Overall a great meal at a resonable price.
