The food wasn't bad; personally I prefer a burger over fine dining, but my wife certainly enjoyed the food. I would recommend this place for a casual fine dining experience. I ordered the gnocchi which was a blend of good flavors mixed together. It was good, and I think a great taste for those who really enjoy fine dining. My wife had the pork chops and she thought it was very enjoyable and had great flavors.
The service wasn't bad either. Our server was quite friendly and came to ask us how we were doing a few times. The food also didn't take very long either, though it wasn't very busy anyways.
The wine selection is very good as well. They've got a good number of red and white wines as well as several types of local brews.
Overall, I recommend this place to those who enjoy great Italian cuisine. Go there and enjoy a nice meal, listen to calm music and relish the company of your loved one.
I wanted to take my wife out for a nice romantic evening meal and after reading the reviews of this restaurant, I thought I'd found the perfect place. Sadly I was mistaken. The romantic looking picture displayed on their website isn't exactly what you will find when you arrive. It was very much like eating at a cafeteria; the tables were much too small (my wife couldn't find a place to put her purse) and the couple sitting next to us were much too close, although there weren't any other customers in the room. They were having a great conversation, but the option was that either they talked, or we did...not both. Considering that we had booked a reservation, we were quite surprised and not impressed. The meal was good; not exceptional, just good, and I honestly think that's the first time I've ever seen my wife still hungry after an evening out. We actually left the restaurant and picked up coffee on the way home. They may have had good coffee and desert, but we were so disappointed that we didn't bother. The only plus was that the waitress was friendly and provided good service.
I have never been so happy with a restaurant before. I am extremely picky to the point my family sometimes doesn't want to go out with me so to have do many amazing things to say about one places tells you exactly what your missing by not trying this place. The atmosphere was great. Service and cleanliness great. Wine selection amazing (had a great New Zealand red). Food was outstanding. Hands down would recommend it to anyone.
We came on a Saturday night and had a lovely birthday dinner for two. The restaurant was empty when we first arrived, which had us slightly worried given that it WAS a Saturday night, but by the time we left an hour later, the place was packed!
Our server was polite but somewhat cold, not spending very much time going over specials and making us feel welcome. The inside of the restaurant was very nice, with lighting that was not too bright, not too dark and the table arrangements were quite cozy.
Our orders were taken quickly (like I said, we were the only ones there), and the food arrived quite promptly as well while we munched on the crusty bread to go with the oil and vinegar on every table. Our antipasti platter was delicious, but it would have been nice if the server had taken the time to describe specifically what the items were and suggest what might go well together (e.g. what the different cuts of meat were, age of the cheese, what the types of olives were, etc.).
My boyfriend ordered the rabbit cassoulet, which came out in a tiny little casserole dish no larger than a medium-sized ramekin, and I immediately thought "Uh-oh! He's going to be STARVING after dinner!" but the dish was surprisingly filling due to the beans and potatoes. The broth was very hearty and thick, and the rabbit meat was deliciously tender and very very tasty! I ordered the seafood stew and was pleasantly surprised to see it come overflowing with mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamari and white fish. Many restaurants load up the stew with broth and veggies and skimp out on the seafood, but Azzurra made sure I got my money's worth with plenty of the good stuff! Our server also suggested a nice white wine to go with our meals and the wine was so delicious, we asked for the label afterwards so we could buy it ourselves!
We shared a yam and pistachio tart for dessert, and while it was delicious, it was hard to taste the pistachio in it; it actually tasted a lot like pumpkin pie.
Dinner for the two of us including tip ran about $110, which isn't bad considering how satisfied we were at the end of the night. I just wish the after-dinner mints weren't in a bowl by the outside door, doesn't seem very hygienic to me! All in all though, it was a very tasty meal and we would definitely go back again! Azzurra felt like a 4 star restaurant without the 4 star price tag!

I find it harder and harder to go out for dinner these days because i always leave feeling a little dissapointed; but not this time!! Our server was friendly and professional and started the evening off in a great way. We were able to sit outside which is a huge bonus for us. There were three interesting Pinot Noirs on the menu so i let our server decide and we were very happy with her selection. On first glance of the menu i knew i was in trouble because everything looked delicious. I settled on the smoked fish salad as an appetizer and then had the duck legs as my main WOW both were fantastic. My partner had the shrimp garlic taglitelli and was equally pleased. For anyone staying at Intrawest its worth the 5 minute drive to get away from the mundane options of the village. We will be back to enjoy more of the great service, great food, awsome company, and a little more creme brulee.

Excellent service, delicious servings and generous portions. not too crowded, but that's not the norm, can be somewhat loud but not on this occasion. Very enjoyable.

what a wonderful night. we came with a large group the other day and had the "Pranzo" dinner and it was so much fun. the service was excellent and the wine we had paired with our meal was spot on.
check out this pranzo dinner, its on their website. it is a traditional italian dinner served to the table in large platters or bowls and the idea is for everyone to share and talk about the food and of course drink some great wine!

It was our 20th wedding anniversary, our server 's name was "Red" I beleive, she made it extra special, you could feel her charm flowing through the restaurant. The food was phenomenal. We started with the goat cheese terrine followed by the osso bucco which just melted in my mouth...We were unsure of which wine to pair with it, the owner came over to our table and suggested a 2004 Amarone. It was quite reasonable in price and it was perfect. It was our first experience at Azzurra, and certainly will not be our last .
The pork chop served at this restaurant has always been a favourite. However, when I ordered it recently I was very disappointed. It was a big hunk of something pink, not the succulent piece of meat I was expecting. My dinner companions enjoyed their meals very much but I clearly did not. I will return to this lovely spot, I just won't order the pork chop......change is not always good.
Thank you Azzurra, your new chef is wonderful!!!! we have been coming to Collingwood for years and every time we are in town we stop in for a bite. we had heard about the new chef an came in to check it out and were very pleased. keep up the good work!
Big fans of this place. I was in with family over the Thanksgiving weekend and we all loved the changes on the new menu. Great choices, great food and great service. We tell all our friends when they're up, to eat here.
We enjoy the way the menu here changes with the seasons. The chef is very creative with the dishes he prepares...lots of variety and selections not found anywhere else. Great service. Great food. Great restaurant. We've never been disappointed.
The outside of the restaurant is fantastic looking, inside is decorated with paintings by local artists, very nice. The owners really should splurge on some new chairs, the ones that are there now are really quite uncomfortable, I switched to the bench seat beside my husband after about 5 minutes.
My husband had the pork chop which I recommended to him after reading previous reviews, it was quite good. Unfortunately my halibut tasted a bit like fancy 'fish n' chips', as it came in a pool of oil and the 'citrus salsa' served with it was more like coleslaw than a citrus salsa. Couldn't actually find any citrus in it. Anyway, maybe it's supposed to be like fish & chips? I don't know. It was OK but that's all. Overall it was an enjoyable experience, however given the price I would have expected a bit better at least for my entree.
Our friends gave us a 2 for 1 coupon for this restaurant and we are so glad they did. We loved it!! The food and service were excellent. We enjoyed our evening out so much we will be returning next month for our anniversary. Watch out folks....we have a big noisy family.

This restaurant offers a very creative menu. Everything we ordered was very delicious. The young man who served us was quite charming and very efficient. We enjoyed our evening out and would definitely return to sample more of their fare.
