Many years ago Old World Woodworking was called upon to do some repair work at our factory located in the west end of the city. We were impressed as the work was done on time and on budget. We were making changes to the home such as new windows, new larger front porch and changing the siding. Uli made a design transformed our entire exterior of the home. Uli has the most incredible ability to listen, design and build. His knowledge of a variety of architectural styles allowed him to recognize what would suit our home. Our home now is stunning. We had a real estate appraisal done and we would get a 100% return on the renovation in the added cost of the home.
Old World Woodworking restored an old and neglected, but underneath it all, very beautiful rosewood antique pull out writing desk. The piece turned out wonderful with new tastefully chosen accessories and leather covering. We were very pleased with the work, the timeliness and service.

We hired Uli to create a number of modern pieces for our bedroom renovation. For our master bedroom, Uli created walnut closet doors and a matching headboard. He also created a birch king-size storage bed, and floating side shelves on both sides of the bed. For our guest room, Uli created a bank of modern-style alcove bookshelves. In order for us to be satisfied that we would get just the right look in the doors and headboard, Uli took us to Toronto to hand select the walnut veneer that would ultimately be the showpieces of our master bedroom. In terms of Uli's work style, several things must be noted: -He understands the modern style -He is a very good listener -He is very responsive - everytime we asked him something by email or via phone, we always received a quick response. -He had all of the work completed on time He exceeded our expectations for craftsmanship and service, and without hesitation, we recommend Uli and Old World Woodworking for modern design furniture and cabinetry.
We recently renovated a stone cottage downtown. Uli built our kitchen cabinets and a hutch for us. All timelines were met, the hardware is wonderful, the workmanship is excellent. Our kitchen is a joy to look at and to use. We love it!
Uli and his team designed a unique set of built-ins for two rooms in our main living areas. This involved creating a track system to allow custom art pieces to slide back and forth in front of the television, above the mantle (also created by Uli), as well as a hidden office space to house the computer and all components, a bench seat, a variety of storage solutions, and planning for accommodating hidden wiring for a home theatre. The result was unbelievable. Everything looks like it has been here since the house was built- no small feat considering how old and bowed the walls, ceiling and floors are! Uli and his team are meticulous, professional, clean and somewhat perfectionist. They surpassed our expectations- particularly when they gave us a time line during our estimate, and managed to complete it on time! Unheard of! Definitely using them again for future jobs, and will recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone. True master craftsmen.
Uli did a great job planning an installation that presented unique challenges. We really had no idea that such a beautiful solution could be found. (We wanted radiator covers with certain unique requirements.) Uli's team did a great job working according to his plan and installing the pieces carefully. We're delighted with the results.
Unbelievable work. Fantastic workmanship. My wife and I are so pleased with the work done on our Mantle. It is unbelievable the way the grain has been brought out. We have a one of a kind Mantle. Everytime we look at it it makes us feel so alive. It seems to speak to you of the Love and Care that was taken to make the piece. I would highly recommend Uli and his Craftsmen at Old World. Old World built a Wall Unit for us that we will likely pass on to our children as it is of very high craftsmanship and quality. One of the things I like about the unit is the built in LED shelf lights that Uli recommended and which I have taken maximum advantage of by using them to display two pieces of Murano Glass. The LED units illuminate the pieces perfectly, this was a pleasant surprise for us once the unit was installed. Uli worked very closely with us to make sure that what was built would work from both a functional and aesthetics standpoint. We had a particular theme that we were trying to follow, and the Wall unit that Uli designed and built matches perfectly the Mission Style of the room. We have one other piece in our house that Uli built for us, and it also is of very high quality, when you hire Uli you are hiring the best.
Uli's craftsmanship is exceptional. His work for us is beautiful. Extremely high quality design and perfectionist execution. I'm not exaggerating. It is extraordinary! This type of craftsmanship is very hard to find. We will be using him again for our future initiatives, and highly recommend him.
Uli and his staff did an amazing job of creating a beautiful table to my specifications. He was easy to work with and communicated often to agree on requirements and then throughout the building process. He met the date requirement as well which these days is a challenge. I am thrilled with this table - it is truly a work of art!!
