Thousands of stacked shoe boxes are recessed in the walls forming a collage of colour blocks. A size 24 boot made for Shaquille O’Neal invites the ebullient giggles of children as they slip their feet in. Tall boots, flats, men’s Oxfords and ankle boots are artfully displayed, while every customer is greeted by the staff in Miller Shoes, Brian Miller’s family owned store since 1926.
Founded by his grandparents in the same location, the store opened with 100 pairs of shoes and 300 empty boxes to provide the illusion of inventory. Things have since changed, with nary an empty box in its expanded 8,000 square foot location, or its second location on Hamilton Mountain.
As the third generation operating the business, Brian had worked in the store during weekends and summers while earning a Chartered Accountant degree, before officially assuming the reins in 2000. “It was a conscious decision to take over the business,” says Brian. “I love it. Shoes are in my family’s blood. No two days are the same.”Apprenez-en davantage sur Miller's Shoe Store
