Miss This One
One word - DON'T. This place needs to decide whether it is going to be a bar or a restaurant. The decor is depressing - a mish mash of furniture that appears to be leftovers from past occupants. Mood lighting - the area we were seated in had no lights. When it got dark outside, we were in the dark. Candles would be nice.
The menu was varied - emphasis on the Caribbean. Lots of burgers (28). Lots of appetizers. But a very limited selection of main courses.
My gut instinct was to go with a burger. Wished I had. I ordered Southwest Smoked Salmon - $15.95. It was a small, overcooked portion with little flavor. It was served with roast potatoes - adding the pieces together, it was less than one potato. It also came with seasonal vegetables - red peppers and tomatoes sauted together. Salsa sauce was added on top as a granish (?). The salsa sauce was ice cold. The tomatoes were poorly trimmed with end pieces where the stems had been.
My wife had the Beer Battered Fish & Chips $11.95. Two decent sized pieces of fish. The waiter was confused and asked if she wanted rice or roast potatoes - usually not offered with this dish. My wife mistakenly answered roast potatoes. And that is what she got - no fries - just a handful of potato chunks. It was suupposed to come with coleslaw - it was missing.
The other guest had a Caesar salad $10.95 with a grilled chicken breast $3.95. The salad was small. The dressing was minimal and the chicken was overcooked and tasteless.
This place needs a makeover. The waiter (who was also the bartender) did not know the menu. The owner/manager (?) sat at two tables near the entrance as her office. There was a computer and a bunch of other stuff spread all over.
This place used to be a gay bar. It still has that feel to it - especially with the 16 disco balls still in evidence. This place needs serious work - both on the decor and on the food preparation.
