Confession: I don't come here for the food. I come because I live close by and I like the environment, especially when I'm eating alone. It's just a fun place to spend an hour, and I'm sure that's why it's always busy and obviously a successful business. I've been twice recently, and both times I ordered the sirloin steak. I'd normally stick to burgers and wings at this type of place, but the waitress was very convincing that steak was their specialty. The first time she was right! The first steak I had was every bit as good as what you'd get at, say the Keg on a good nite. I was quite impressed! So I went back two weeks later and ordered the same steak dinner. This time I was disappointed. Although it was cooked perfectly (to the medium rare spec I ordered), the beef wasn't of high quality. Instead it was tough and full of grizzle. Not a great experience and certainly not acceptable for a $25 entree. I'll no doubt go back to Jack Astors but I'm going to stick to pub fare. That's obviously what they're good at.

Just a bad night?

Okay, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Still though, I was frustrated. I went to JA's on Fanshawe for dinner last Thursday evening, around 9PM. It was a bit late and I was alone, and so thought JA's would be a good choice for food and some TV's and stuff to keep me company. Too bad no one there wanted to serve me! Much to my amazement, I sat at a table in the bar area for over 5 minutes and wasn't even offered a drink. If it was busy, I could understand. But there were twice as many staff as there were patrons at this time, but all the staff were busy in conversation with each other! I sat and waited, watched the wait and bar staff chat amongst themselves, got up and put my coat on, and walked next door to Swiss Chalet. During all that time, not one person at JA's so much as said hello. Weird, eh! I'm going to suggest this was a one-off experience, maybe following an exceptionally busy night earlier. Still, the staff at these places need to remember why they're there and to stay focused on their customers.

This is a great place for food and fun. one of my regular spots its been a place where alot of amazing memories have happened

Ive been here several times with one person or a large group. I always get the same thing. The garlic pan bread, the buffalo strips, and the apple crisp. They make the best buffalo strips, hands down. They actually taste freshly breaded, not frozen with a super thick coating. I dont really enjoy their fries..but for those strips, I deal with it

You don't come here expecting an amazing...

You don't come here expecting an amazing restaurant with great ambiance, but it's a great place for some tasty food as a treat, and a casual atmosphere. They are great with constantly refilling drinks without having to be asked, and the food comes in a timely manner. Some really tasty options here. Nothing too healthy, but that's what I love about it!

Terrible Service

My husband and I went to for dinner. We were told there was would be a wait of 10 to 15 minutes. So we decided to wait. There were 4 to 6 parties that come in after us and they were told the same. The first 4 parties were seated before us and when we ask why, we were told to have a seat and wait our turn. When we finally got a table the waitress was extremely unfriendly. We got our drinks half way through our meal and when we wanted a refill our waitress was nowhere to be found. After waiting 20 minutes we found out that she went home. We asked to speak to a manager and that did happen either. All this and I haven't even mentioned the food. All I wil say about the food is it sucked just as much or more than the service. Now the kicker, it was our wedding anniversary and the last time I visited this restaurant, it was great. So, we decided to go back. Well, needless to say we will NEVER go back.

Not Happy.

My fish and chips were very oily and not enough (two little pieces and not much fish mostly badder), my wife was disappointed with her pasta, almost tasteless, didn't eat it at all and my son's ribs were not bad but again not enough ribs, it was not even a half rack of ribs ( there were only 5 ribs in total in that rack). We will not go back.

Service was great, food was okay.

Chicken Focaccia arrived cold, bread was almost too herby tasting. I wouldn't order it again. Southwest flatbread is delicious, my boyfriend and I order it every time. Chicken Tacos where pretty good but there was burnt residue on the pieces of chicken and you could taste it which was kind of gross. My boyfriend enjoyed the Sweet Onion and Blue Cheese burger but said you could really taste the blue cheese. So if you like blue cheese it's probably for you. And as always their french fries are amazing.

As this where my daughter and I go for lunch "dates" almost weekly we are fairly well known. The service is always great, the food is always good and the atmosphere is always cheerful. I would highly recommend it.

From the second we walked in the door, we were greeted and felt like we were welcomed. The wait was expected for such a busy night, the resteraunt was packed but we managed to get a table in good time. Within moments of sitting down our waitress (jenna) I believe greeted us and again made us feel at home. Our order was quite large but the food times were phenomenal. Our waitress was great with everything, refills, checking up on us, and brought us the bill like she read our minds. I have never been so impressed with a resteraunt in my 28 years of dining out. You can bet your bottom dollar I will be back!

The waitress was amazing. The cooks messed up and it completely went over her head, so she gave us the tastiest free dessert and didn't charge us for the mishaps.
