Overpriced and Greasy

I really enjoy Fish & Chips and am loyal to a certain spot in town. But I thought I'd give Captain George a try one day with my husband. I really wish I hadn't. The fish was overbattered and overly greasy. Worst of all, they used frozen fries! I can buy McCain fries and make them at home. Certainly won't be going back.

Wow. Pricey. I forgot. $43 for 4 pieces of...

Wow. Pricey. I forgot. $43 for 4 pieces of fried halibut and two fries. No slaw, no drinks/ Food is good, certainly hot and fresh, a little greasy but hey it's deep fried. The family working the counter has this attitude of entitlement. "Our food is good, so tough pay up." Oh and forget using your credit card. Forget using Interac. CASH ONLY. Do you want 5 packages of tartar sauce or 6. How about you just give me 10 packages in case I like pre-packaged tartar sauce. Didn't I just drop $43 on fish and fries. Bought fish there 3-4 times, but we are done. You gotta wonder if they deserve your money (cash...). The few times I was there, no one has ever greeted me. I have stood there until the cranky lady says "Yes?" I work too hard for my money. Someone else in Oshawa must be able to fry fish.

BEST FISH!

The Halibut and Salad is amazing...the fries arent homemade anymore so I dont order them but the service is good, just not many places to sit, better to take out and eat at home. Everytime I think of fish I wanna go to Captain Georges for their awesome Halibut and Greek salad!!!

Excellent fish...terrible service

I have been going to Captain George's for years. The only reason I go back is that the fish is the best. The service is terrible. His wife, or partner, always has a bad attitude, never friendly and seems like she hates being there, grumpy and never smiles. I actually feel sorry for her but it's terrible service. A little smile once in awhile or Hi would be nice. Other than that food is good but getting a little pricey.

We recently moved to the area and it was...

We recently moved to the area and it was suggested that we try this local gem. We go regularly now and always have the Halibut & Fries and the Greek Salad. It is the best Fish & Chips we have had anywhere (nice light batter) and the salad tops it off perfectly. Thanks for bringing quality & taste to an age old treat.

I love this place! The best fish I have every had! They give you a great size portion, and the gravy is fantastic! One of our favorite places to eat!
