Pilos Restaurant

We've been to Pilos many times, but last Thursday was not greatest. We were a group of 8 celebrating a friend's birthday, brought a cake and was told that wasn't allowed. Anyways my husband told our waiter that this was pathetic not allowing customers to bring cake, he ask if they were afraid of losing money on desert , but most likely would probably money with coffee. hat night they made I'm pretty sure close to 700$ with our group. Finally we sang happy birthday in the parking lot.

Disappointed

I grew up on the Danforth in Toronto but since moving to Ottawa have learned to resist using TO as my benchmark for Ottawa restaurants. Sadly, this one disappointed anyway. First, despite what the menu says, they do NOT serve Greek salad--there were no olives or feta cheese, just greens. Second, the moussaka was literally 4 cubic inches! The portion would have left a mouse unsatisfied. Service was friendly and ambiance warm, but for decent Greek, I'm waiting to return to TO.

If I had to summarize my experience here in one word, I'd call it "good". Not "fantastic" but "good". Enjoyed the food, service was decent, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Prices were fair, but would have preferred if the entrees were a few dollars cheaper.

My brother had moved close by so we thought we would try it out for lunch. We got the lunch special. The chicken souvlaki for me and pork souvlaki for him. It came with potatoes, rice, and 'salad' for 9.95 which is a pretty good price. A breadbasket was also given but the bread was somewhat dry. Everything was pretty good, especially for that price. The meat portion was on the small side, but again, to be expected for the small price. The only thing I didn't like was that the salad was really only tomatoes and feta - kinda wish they had explained it better on the menu. I was expecting at least cucumbers, bell peppers, etc. The place was packed on this Friday lunch time so service was not the greatest - it was okay.

Being a fan of the former Papagus Greek restaurant, I was leery and for good reason apparently. Not as good as it could have been. The Saganaki appetizer was not as much as we would have gotten at Papagus. Pita bread was not as fresh.

such an overrated restaurant we went there for lunch the waiting was horrible, 25 minutes just for appetizers the cooking was horrific (undercooked chicken, undercooked and not fresh octopus )the potatoes greasy and so much salted, the service was slow, rude and they are not listening to the client, we try to talk to the waitress she was avoiding us. a perfect example of an overrated restaurant which rely only on the reputation and does not care about the cooking and the clients. Who gave them a consumer award ? we will never come back

The food is amazing and service is fast but...

The food is amazing and service is fast but relaxed. I've tried many of the dishes and have never been disappointed.
