The first thing you’ll notice when you meet Gordana Tirnanic, the co-owner of Ici Paris Skin Care Clinic & Spa, is that her skin is flawless. But it wasn’t always that way. “I had severe acne as a teenager,” she explains. “What got me into aesthetics was my own issue with my skin.”
Growing up in her native country, former Yugoslavia (now Serbia), Gordana found there were limited skincare options so she had to take matters into her own hands. “I would go to the drugstore and buy things like salicylic acid,” she recalls. “I would mix it with lemon and other natural ingredients to make a mask to work on my scarring and acne.”
Gordana decided she wanted to help others with their skin too. She studied aesthetics in college and arrived in Canada as a European-trained practitioner in 1982. Her home was around the corner from Ici Paris, and she would often go there for her own facials and pedicures. It wasn’t too long before she found her professional home there, too – in 1992, the original owner wanted to retire, so Gordana bought the business. “Working here was my destiny,” says Gordana, who has been running the business ever since. And it paid off – thanks to the team’s hard work, Ici Paris earned the Top Choice Award for Best Beauty Spa 2017 in Toronto.
