Kids Zone Daycare

Branka Rados agrees that there's no place like home for young children. But if they can't be there, then there's no place like Kids Zone Daycare. The caregivers at Kids Zone’s two locations — on Glendale and Constance avenues, both just east of Roncesvalles Ave. — “spend more time with the children than their parents do,” says Branka, “so we give the kids the same quality environment they have at home.”

Appropriately enough, it all began in 1991 when Branka started a five-child daycare in her newly purchased Toronto home. With her husband Igor by her side and her two-year-old son in her arms, Branka had just immigrated to Canada from Serbia, where war was brewing.

A kindergarten teacher by trade, Branka earned her Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma from George Brown College and applied her skills at other daycares in the area to make ends meet. But when she saw that her son’s daycare wasn’t up to her high standards, she decided to take matters into her own hands. “I wanted my kids to have the best, so I started the daycare myself,” Branka explains. “We have time for the kids, we love them, we care for them. Everyone has different needs, and we cater to that.”
