Although Moo Milk Bar specializes in milk and cookies, the bakery offers more than plain white milk. Inspired by the dairy shop her grandfather ran in Tel Aviv, Israel, owner Danielle Oron added flavoured milks to the menu. “He would flavour milks. Mostly just basic chocolate but they also did a banana milk, which my mom had told me was her favourite,” Danielle says. “That was the jumping off point where my mom was like, ‘I really miss the flavoured milk’ so we thought we would do it as well.”

Since launching Moo Milk Bar in August 2012, the selection of flavoured milks has grown to include 15-plus rotating varieties made with fresh milk from Hewitt’s Dairy Farm in Hagersville, Ontario. Flavours include banana, caramel, chocolate, strawberry, raspberry and the shop’s two most popular kinds: vanilla bean and banana chocolate.

Moo Milk Bar’s other staple is cookies, which can be made into ice cream sandwiches. Danielle says the best sellers are the classic chocolate chip cookie and the toffee bit cookie, which was featured in the Toronto Life Cookbook in 2013. “My ultimate cookie is a soft in the middle, crispy on the edge kind of cookie and those are mostly the ones that we have,” she says.
