Contrary to popular belief, Palm Sunday isn’t the first salon in recent memory to grace the Ossington-Harbord strip. Co-owner Ronnie Dag remembers community members expressed excitement when the salon opened its doors in 2014. “We thought, ‘No, we’ve been here for eight years!’” Ronnie exclaims, referring to the fact that she and stylist/co-owner Kat Marcus had been cutting hair at The Saloon, Palm Sunday’s former incarnation, for several years. This wasn't well known as the dark and kitschy bar-like interior kept the space hidden and under the radar.
When the opportunity came for Ronnie and Kat to take over the space, they brought on their long-time friend Shane Lyon and the three teamed up to renovate and rebrand the salon to make it their own.
