“When I opened the store in 2004, I must admit I didn’t have much experience in the field of electric bikes. But considering they were illegal in Canada until 2003, I can claim in retrospect that that makes us the pioneers who went on to become Montreal’s number one dealership,” proclaims Jean Pruneau, co-owner of Vélo Branché, along with partner François Morissette. "When they were approved by the government, I saw a business opportunity I couldn’t pass by,” adds Jean.
Located on Papineau Avenue, Vélo Branché is truly Montreal’s reference when it comes to electric bikes. “We’ve developed a great expertise of the product category. People come from all over to get our advice and try the bikes out; we have an excellent reputation, and that makes me extremely proud. We weren’t sure at first whether it would be a viable market, but when you look at the spike in sales in Canada and throughout the world year after year, it’s clear that it wasn’t just a fad and that this category is here to stay.”
