Maria spent her early twenties searching for a career, working for construction firms, doing some sales, and even obtaining her real estate licence. She finally found her niche while working for a distributor of beauty products. When he went out of business, Maria bought the makeup line and, together with her business partner at the time, "knocked on doors to find a place for our new studio."
After her business partner moved abroad in 1992, Maria expanded the Burnaby-based business to include more products and services. Client service is very important to her, so much so that she will often spend 40 minutes or more showing her client the technique behind simple eyebrow shaping. "They need to see,” she explains, “that where the brow starts and ends—how the brow should be balanced—makes a huge difference to the look of their face."
This bright and welcoming space in Highgate Village Shopping Centre houses the latest in beauty technology and products. If you've ever had a penchant for looking like Madonna, Cecil B. Spa and Laser can offer you the same HydraFacial MD process that the famously youthful star favours.
Cecil B. also offers the services of a family physician with advanced training in Aesthetic Medicine, who takes appointments at the spa for medical cosmetic procedures, such as Botox, dermal fillers and injection lipolysis.
As Maria says, "You don't have to be a star to look like one."" >
