The restaurant is fine and the service is terrible - I had some appetizers and that was less than appetizing. I saw some of the entrees but was disgusted. The steak looked like a grade 8 science project.
I visited Dakota's a while back with friends and family. I was very suprised at how wonderful my dishes were. I loved the restaurant layout and overall appearance. Very neat building. I wasn't particularly happy with the service as I found our young waitress quite gruff with us. I think for the restaurant being fairly slow at the time she could have provided more cheerful service. Luckily the service saved face a few weeks ago when I went in for a few beers after work. I had a new employee, brenden serving me. He was a really great guy and we talked for over half an hour.
I have been visiting Dakotas Regularly for years now, i much prefered it when it was in the old building, when they moved, i found alot of the menu had changed, i went with my parents, a few friends and on my own, it seemed food was never really consistant, they were trying to take a classic and turn it into something else. the beef dip was very appealing looking, nice size, beef looked awesome, fries your almost standardized fries you'd find at alot of Restaurants, then take a bite and the sandwich gets you thinking what? is that? they add a BBar Q Sauce for some reason, not appealing in my eyes. the steak totally delivered, cooked as i asked it to be and well presented, price also expected, served hot and to my view of perfection. cheese burger and fries, on occasion a little well done, but always worth the order, the burger a lot of flavor, each bite kept you wanting more, by the time you finish the burger alone you will almost always be satisfied, if not you still have almost 3/4 of a plate of fries so, it will always satisfy. Caesar salad as a side, delivered, nicely sized, not overly large, not having me thinking "Am I getting what I am paying for?" thankfully, it as a Meal Size Portion, i was left thinking "Oh my God, how am I going to finish all of this?" very much up to my picky standards of what a Caesar salad should be. Alcohol menu, very well stocked, a lot of variety and their staff are well educated on what their establishment serves, excellent recommendations most definitely beer wise. food wise, sometimes hit and miss with some dishes, service wise could find no better place to be served unless of course you are willing to pay alot more for your total bill. i would most definitely return, just remember if you aren't into the bbq sauce tell them or ask them if they still put it on the beef dip and try out their variety of beers.
Excellent food, awesome staff, and our server Dustin was terrific! We want a Dakota's in Delta!?! mmm!!! Also we liked the fact that your company is in the Entertainment book, big plus. We will be back for sure! Thanks :o)
I have been a long time Dakota's patron. Sadly once the new building was up and running everything changed...I have tried several times to eat there and have yet to have a decent meal. The old owner took over again and I had hope finally....sadly they have been dashed. My son took me to dinner tonight and my dinner was horrible. I ordered cesar salad which was not nearly what it once was , it tasted like it had almost turned...then for the alaskan crabs mushroom caps came and they were cold, the cheese had hardened on them and under it all it was imitation crab. The server was good when i asked him if it was and I showed him he admitted it looked like it was yes...he brought me shrimp caps instead about 8 minutes later but i was already feeling sick. He did try and explain that they normally use real crab but ran out so the chef thought to use the imitation. Sad and it made me ill. Not good. The server offered dessert but since i was feeling ill that was that. sadly it's time to let an old friend go. it's painful because the memories, once so great are now drowned out with a sour taste.
wow where to start,we went for lunch on aug 20 my b-day and had a horrible time,first the server was bored or just did not care about his job we got sat in a VERY DIRTY booth by dirty i mean food matter splattered on the end wall , the sugar container covered in old coffee , the salt & pepper greasy and cover in grossness, when the server came back to take order 10 min later. after get our food the fries where so under cooked we did not eat them the server did not come by once during the meal so we could not ask for new ones then he came over cleared the plates with out asking how our meal was and brought the bill , witch was wrong. BAD ALL AROUND AND I WILL NEVER GO BACK
We’ve been Dakotas regulars at the Chilliwack locations since they first opened. It had always been one of our favourites. Since moving to the new location, things have really gone downhill. The serving sizes have been steadily shrinking as has the level of service. Today is father's day and my family took me out for lunch. Normally we order their fancier fare, but today I just felt like having a burger. I added mushrooms for 2 bucks extra bringing the total to $13.88. Not unreasonable for a gourmet burger served in a nice atmosphere. However, the only thing gourmet about this burger was the fancy toothpick. When I complained about it (nicely), the waitress acknowledged that my taste buds were indeed correct. As I suspected, she confirmed. They had recently switched to frozen 60/40 type frozen patties. I also suspect the meagre dozen or so mushroom slices came from a can. A short time ago I ordered the chipotle chicken focaccia sandwich and was so impressed for a change that I recommended it to friend a week later. We both ordered it and it came with the same size chicken breast I had been served the week before, only this time it was sliced in half and split between the two orders. When I asked the server about it he admitted what had been done and had the kitchen make good. Too little, too late. Also, the servers need hospitality training. We used to feel welcome. Now we feel like an inconvenience. By the way, we ALWAYS tip at least 15%. We have been promising ourselves to stop patronizing this restaurant, but keep on trying to give an old friend another chance. No more! For this level of food and service one should expect pictures of the entrees on the menu.
Have been there both for Lunch and Supper!!! Been great both times!! The Lunch menu is great for pricing as supper is a litle more expensive but well WORTH it!!! Was stuffed both times!! Will definatly go back again. :D
we enjoy the food and service but do not believe in leaving tips but this is a way of tipping off the public.
