I know Magweyers Restaurant in the Baywood Plaza in Ajax is superb. The food is so delightfully fresh and flavours that to h your pallet so gracefully. I have tried most of the menu ,and with the food and lovely service, I can only say it’s a solid 5 STAR restaurant. I would love to go on but go and try it for yourself. Try there French onion soup, it’s the best I have had, and that in itself says everything. Many thanks to Magweyers Ajax .Candace

Food DELICIOUS, Service ON POINT, Décor AUTHENTIC PUB with MODERN TWISTS, Atmosphere HOPPING! And OK not everyone wants to read about "facilities" in a food report, but we all know that tells you a lot about the restaurant. So here goes....Lav's LOVELY. It was extremely busy...didn't know wing night was so hot (in every way) there. However the service was fast and friendly; as in Glass never Empty fast, not Hurry up and Get Out fast. Mags is the best pub in Ajax

I have been going to Magwyer's my entire life with my family and friends. Our party sizes range from party of 2 to party of 20. It is amazing. We have never been disappointed. Service is great, they recently made the seating area bigger, and renovated the washrooms. I highly recommend it!!!

A surprising south Ajax delight.

Seeing how this pub has no reviews, I figured I would be the first to recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good pound of wings. Tuesday and Thursday's I think are wing nights... I recommend going before 5 as it gets packed in a hurry. The servers are polite and always around when you need them. No pool tables but a few tv's and a touch screen game on the bar. In summary the wings here hold up pound for pound against any other major franchise or local Ajax bar.

Always Feel Welcome

Everyone is welcome to thier own oppinion. Before I wrote my review, I read the ones already written here. No restuarant can expect to have 100% safisfaction from all their partrons. I say, give them another chance. Tell Magwyer's of your complaint, I am sure they will do something to make your experience a better one. I have frequently visited Magwyer's, but I wouldn't say that we are regulars. From the time we walk in and the time we leave I feel that they really do care about our experience with them. Most times when my husband and I have visited the place has been packed. A few people I have seen before, but most are new faces, ranging from young adult to old people like us. The same staff have been there for as long as I can remember. This tells me that they are treated well and happy to be working there. We might have had to wait for our meal a little longer at times, but it was always worth it. We were both happy with our meal last night and suprised how much food we got in our extra side dish. There was enough to take some home and have another meal tomorrow. The owners are a hard working couple that take pride in their pub. The pub hasn't been renovated as far as I know from the first day it opened. I don't see why it should. It isn't run down and has a warm cozy feel to it and reminds me of the pubs back in Europe. It's a great place to meet friends or just enjoy a meal and a drink with your spouse. I will keep on enjoying Magwyer's. There is nothing in Durham that compares to this type of casual, fun dining.

Best Pub in Durham

Magwyer's is no 3-star pub. This place is a gem. A great selection of domestic and imported beers on tap, a laid-back and very friendly staff, and the best part: The food! You wouldn't expect to find such an extensive menu at a little pub like this, especially in Durham region. And everything is delicious. I've had a number of entrees and they've all exceeded my expectations. The nightly specials are all great deals, especially Mondays: An 8-ounce NY strip steak with vegetables and choice of starch AND a pint for $11.99. Unreal. The steak is always cooked perfectly and the sides are delicious. What more could you want? Criticism of this place is obviously from prudes and snobs who think they're at a fine dining establishment. It's a pub for goodness sakes. Maybe the decor is nothing special... but again... it's a pub... what do you want? I've been coming to Magwyer's for a few years and I now rely on it as the most dependable pub in Durham.

Awesome!

The food is to die for! Everything we had was awesome! You would never expect a pub to have such great food! And the service was amazing... everyone was very polite. It was packed when we got there, but we still felt very welcomed by the people at the front door! We had to wait a little bit for a table but that was just fine, we got drinks from the bartender and made our way outside to the patio, where we met a few of the regulars who all raved about this pub. We will definitly be back!! Oh and a great selection of beers on tap!

Worn out pub. Needs an extreme make over PUB EDITION Seems if you're not a "regular" there you are relagated to the back of the bus in terms of service. Our food came out cold and others that know the staff that came in after us got theirs first and apparently it arrived in good condition for them since they seemed satisfied. Either that or they have lower standards than my brother and I!!!

Kind of uneventful place. Service is great but the food is mediocre at best. My daughter hurt her teeth trying to bite into the chicken fingers. The wings were good but my wife's fish 'n chips were cool and damp.

My buddy and I ordered the fish 'n chips and it was cold when it arrived and we had to send it back where it was probably put in the microwave so it arrived on back hot, wet and unappetizing. My wife ordered the wings and said they were great! My buddies wife ordered the burger and a salad and it was overcooked and hard and but she said the salad was fresh. Like other reviewers on here, we were was charged extra 50 cents for extra ranch dressing for the wings. Overall we were dissatisfied. Don't think I'll go back.

It was late when we arrived, about 8:30 pm. Looking for food and drinks. Found the drinks expensive and the fook okay. Nothing special. Service was slow, but as it was a weeknight and very few patrons, that was to be expected. Next girls night for drinks, we will look elsewhere.

The place seems to be occupied by the same collection of sots from my last visit. Have to walk past the smokers to get into the place. They look you over like you are invading their private club. Service okay by waitress in need of an extreme make-over. Food was okay , but all in all , didnt feel welcome and will not return.

They nickle and dime you to death if you order extra sour cream for fajitas or extra dressing for wings. Service was good and the drinks were excellent. Bathrooms can be a bit cleaner. Overall, pretty good.

This was our first time going there. They were exceptionally busy but that's no excuse for what happened next. When our chicken nachos arrived, they were a mess. We started to eat them and then we all noticed the chicken wasn't cooked all the way. Little pieces were half cooked on one side and the other side totally raw. Uck! Fish 'n Chips were just OK. Nothing special. The crab dip was bland and most unexciting. Perogies were hard and dry which was most disappointing. The wings were good though. Hot and cooked through and through. Maybe they should change their name to Wing Shack II! Seems to be the only good thing on the menue. Just doesn't seem to be any life to the menu plus there are things on the menu that they don't even make or haven't offered for years!!! This is a sign of 'cheap management'. Don't want to put out the expense of updating the menue. Someone needs to tell them that the menu is representative of the owner!
