One of the best breakfasts in Barrie!

Having run through most of the breakfasts haunts in Barrie, our family decided to try the Country Kettle, which is right up the street from our house. We were a little shocked with how busy it was on a Sunday morning -- we waited about 10 minutes for a table to open. Our order was taken quickly, and our food was served in a reasonable amount of time considering how busy it was. And the food was terrific! I ordered steak and eggs. The steak, as is normal, wasn't the best cut of meat ever, but it was done properly and pretty tasty. The eggs were over easy perfect, and the homefries were amazing! And the huge slices of toast were fantastic! Both of our kids cleaned their plates and asked for more toast (which they filched from my wife) and the bill was reasonable. Highly recommended!

terrible terrible, food was nothing great...

terrible terrible, food was nothing great, service needs much improvement, decor is horrible looks like a truck stop and needs major work, hate to see what the kitchen looks like if the bathrooms need that much work. For the price on the menus this place is way way overpriced.

Don't even waste your time, check out the washrooms and then decide if you want to eat there. The owners have had their day, the place is run down. Retirement might be a better option. Yuk

The worst experience I have ever encountered in a...

The worst experience I have ever encountered in a restaurant. Why they want to be in business is puzzling. I remember going there years ago when the owner was a gentleman that loved to sing, Terry I think his name was. The food then was excellent and the servers were equally gracious. It was busy there, although I don't understand people's taste, perhaps their tastebuds were so damaged they don't know better. So bad, so disappointing. Service sucked, food even worse and the place needs a major facelift if not torn down and rebuilt. I can just imagine what the kitchen looks like if the front is that bad.

First of all the waitress was not friendly, very informal and abrupt. The place was not busy and had the atmosphere of a highway restaurant, although it is off the beaten path. The washroom is in dire need of repair or upgrade. The food was ok but not memorable for a breakfast meal. Probably will not go back again. Found the price to be very high for the quality of food and ambiance of the place.

Visited on a weekend morning, wasn't busy but the wait for service was long, the girl was rude (short black hair), she reeked of cigarettes. The atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming. The other server didn't seem to have much on the ball either. We didn't get a coffee refill and the breakfast was the worst. Frozen potatoes for homefries, runny eggs on one order, hard eggs on the other although both were ordered over easy. Bacon was crispy and over cooked. Very expensive for the quality of the place, it's just a truck stop restaurant. Never will visit again and will tell others and warn them about the shoddiness of the place.
