In the ’60s, to say something was “the cat’s meow” meant it was very cool, very much in fashion. For Brian Rowsell, naming his business It’s the Cat’s Meow Café was a logical choice, a way of telling people his establishment was a cut above the rest.

What Brian didn’t expect was that his customers would take the name literally. So he seized the opportunity and filled the café with cat-themed paraphernalia, from mugs to pictures on the wall. When you visit It's the Cat's Meow Café’s website, you'll even see a picture of Kookie the cat—the café’s virtual mascot—dressed up for Halloween.
