We've been going there for 15 yrs, come every week. In the past 3-4 months or so something has change. First the chef doesn't greet you anymore when you come in or when you leave. The quality of the fish is not the same anymore. I took my friend visiting toronto the Tuesday after Easter and we were both very sick the day after. Took my kids last night and the shrimp tempura looked like it came out of a frozen box. The fish didn't look as fresh as usal. It was a very deceptive experience.

Beware! Highly Addictive!!! :D

I've been coming here for at least 7 years now. I HATED sushi....until I found Gonoe! We now go quite frequently, that we know everyone on a first name basis. (At one point, we would go 3 times a week!) The food is spectacular! I have been to many sushi places around the city, and nothing compares. Often, I feel disappointed and say "I should have just gone to Gonoe!" The Las Vegas is my favourite, followed by the Special Roll, Volcano Roll, Kalbi Roll, Spicy Tuna Tempura Roll, etc. As for appetizers, the Shitake Tempura is tops! Like all businesses, sometimes they do get busy, and othertimes they can be training new staff. However, the place is a nice, small restaurant, with food that cannot be beat! Therefore, I can easily overlook the minor issues that only happen sporadically. Generally speaking, only dinner comes with complimentary ice cream. However, sometimes we get complimentary edamame and even ice cream at lunch times. I don't see this as inconsistent, but just as special treats, which they give when they are able to do so. Although we get these often, I am not dissatisfied when we do not, since it is their choice to provide these treats (and we shouldn't be expecting them at all times). However, whenever they do not provide these, and we still want them, they are very friendly and quickly provide us with whatever we order.

The crunchy-spicy tuna roll is fantastic. My wife ordered the sushi-dinner, which was also great. I always have the tempura iro iro. Friendly wait staff. It is one of my neighbourhood favourites.

one of the most under rate japanese restaurants around. a hidden jem! great food, good service without lots of fanfare or huge price. las vegas role and sushi are great, as is the tempura. and i'm picky!

Fan-Sushi-Tastic

I have been going there for a few years now and I LOVE this restaurant. In fact, my family goes so often we say hello to the staff as if they're family friends. The owners are fantastic, the staff is very friendly. There has been a change of owners, however, it has not changed one bit. The food is great and comes to the table without the blink of an eye. The maki and sushi is presented in a simple yet tasteful manner. I recommend this restaurant to everyone! You'll always want to go back...

This place is just simply FANTASTIC!!! I would recommend anyone to try this...sushi lover or not..the food is tasty, addictive actually and the service is great....i don't love sushi...i love GONOE sushi.....it is reasonably priced and we often find ouselves there 3 times a week...

Gonoe sushi offers excellent Sushi at a good price. The Sushi is dense, satsifying, and very filling. Unlike many "cheaper" sushi stores, Gonoe sushi offers the BEST in terms of qaulity and freshness. More expensive but very worth while. Must try the Cal rolls! Great place for sushi!

We have been dining at Gonoe since it was first...

We have been dining at Gonoe since it was first openned. Although the owner changed this past summer (and we were very upset about that) the quality and the service has remained the same. The same restaurant staff stayed on with the new owner, and that helped keep the consistancies in place. If you want fabulous sushi, with no disappointments, this is the place to go. I have tried many many different Sushi restaurants in Toronto (and other cities), none compare for value and taste.

I like gonoe sushi. Excellent sushi and service. I loved everything. Gonoe sushi tastes way better than any other sushi resturants. Made me confortable. My friend also liked the food. Some of the delicious sushi were Legend Dragon Roll. I love this roll. I recommend you to try Gonoe Sushi.

I always order the Spicy Tuna Rolls. They are excellent. The tempura iro iro is also very good. The sushi is always fresh. My wife and I eat here about once a month, and the food and service has always been good.
