I live in Port Elgin and there are 3 restaurants I go to. Lord Elgins is my favourite. The only problems I have had is the line ups to get in in the summer. I asked how many people the restaurant seats and it's 150, in the summer there are often that many more waiting to get in. They give you a pager so you can walk around a bit while you wait for your table. If that's the only problem I've had over the last 20 years, I guess that's a good thing!
This restaurant was terrible. My wife ordered a diet special and felt awful doing so. Why would someone that is health conscious want to outright say they want a diet special? who ever wrote the menu is an idiot. Everyone elses food was very greasy and overpriced. Obviously whoever created the menu had no taste buds. DO NOT GO HERE, EVER!!!
Average Food, average Service, very loud (busy). Choose this restaurant based on this websites reviews. Left feeling disappointed. However, not allot of decent options in this neck of the woods
Two of us ate Halibut on a bun with fries, and two pops, for under $20. Food was excellent, service was "local" and very friendly, the restaurant theme is definitely a marina style experience. Best prices in Port Elgin and further, and absolutely worth a stop! Highly Recommended and much better than any other fast-food junk to be found in port elgin. Thanks!
Been going to Lord Elgin's for almost 15 years now & love it as much every time we go.
A staple when family comes to visit as it's hard to find a really great all-you-can-eat fish & chips place these days.
Great food & excellent service everytime, I definitely recommend it to anyone with a big appetite who loves fish! Although, in the summer if you arrive at the regular dinner time you will expect to spend some time in the fresh air with your pager while you wait for an available table. But ALWAYS worth the wait! High recommendations from my entire family:)
My ONLY complaint is that there are not many healthy conscious options available. It would be nice to see steamed salmon or broiled trout or something 'healthier'.
my family and another family come here every year while we are camping, it is the best fish and chips we have ever had. We all usually order the halibut or the all you can eat haddock depending on what is ordered. We have 5 picky kids with us and they all love the fish. I wish we lived closer so we could go every week.
You can't beat the Lord Elgin. I used to go 2-3 times a week when I was staying up there working.
Superb service and excellent fish and chips. Buffet is good but I prefer to order from the menu. Wonderful seatood chowder. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Can't wait until my next visit. Excellent restaurant!

This is absolutely the best place ever for fish & chips. We travel 6 months of the year in a RV and I can tell you we eat out a lot and never have we ever found a restaurant that has better fish and chips as well as great service and reasonable prices. Like they say it is worth the drive.
We absolutely love this place. We visit numerous times each summer. We have never had a bad meal. The girls are very friendly and accomodating. Best fish and chips anywhere.

I'm really disappointed this year we didn't get up to our friend's cottage as a supper at the Lord Elgin is one of the highlights of our trip. Their Halibut is the best in Ontario and if they weren't 4 hours away I would go today.
