My family and I have Friday dinner here every week it is one of the best placeso in Thunder Bay to eat.The ribs are the best and the rest of the menu items are very good I have tried almost all of them.
I have been here three times each time with my kids, the last time the waitress brought our ribs to the table and they were cold...not lukewarm but cold..needless to say...this was the third time with terrible food, previously our ordered was messed up majorly..won't ever be back. We tried a Applebees in South Dakota recently..it was packed, extremely noisy and my rice wasn't cooked..after a long day of travelling it confirmed to me that this resturaunt chain is sub-par, and we will eat at a hole in the ground before ever stepping back to this chain.
I came at a particularly busy time and I was promptly seated by the hostess who was very kind and organized. Our waitress came very soon after to take our drink orders and she returned with them very quickly. She had returned a few minutes later to take our orders and to refill our drinks. Considering that the restaurant was packed, I was quite impressed with her efficiency. The service was the only thing I found to be good or above average on this visit. The food came and it was quite cold by the time it had arrived. My fries had tasted like they had been sitting there for quite some time and had a very strong grease flavour to them. My 'chipotle' burger was anything but chipotle. The burger was cold as well, and as far as the 'chipotle' goes, well, there was a small blob of chipotle sauce (that looked like it was bought from SuperStore) on the middle of the burger. The vegetables for the burger were left off to the side for me to put on and tasted not fresh at all. My dining partner's food had also looked like it was sitting under a heating lamp for a while too. The chicken was the only saving grace as the vegetables tasted overcooked and the garlic mashed potatoes looked like one massive clump with a skin already starting to form around the outside layer. I really feel uncomfortable even entertaining the idea of spending money here again.
We were seated immediately and enjoyed our meal. Our service was friendly and quick, despite the restaurant being very busy. The food was hot and delicious. We will definitely be returning. Not sure about the other poor reviews, because it is worth a visit.
I always like Applebees, the selection is fantastic and the food is always good. Best nachos I've ever had, love the guacamole. Service is always good too.
this had to be close to the worst meal at Applebees....my Grilled blt was not grilled....and had enough mustard to sink a ship....yuck....my husbands meal was ok....the servive was down right annoying....we were with another couple and the waitress was clearing the table before we even finished....and one of them also a grilled blt....which also wasn't grilled....it will be a while before we go back
Food was good but our server Jayme screwed up my wife's order, forgets to bring cutlery....which was no big deal but then after we asked her to fix the issues we get nothing but attitude from her and the Manager, some young guy with dark spikey hair was too busy flirting with the bartender to do anything else the guy never moved from the bar the whole hour we were there!!! Man what a joke, not one server or hostess in this place smiles.......the food was really good though, hats off to the cooks who made my night not a complete disaster....I think I'll follow up with the local owner on this!
My drink came without celery or lemon although other diners did get those additions. The bread tasted like it had been soaked in rancid melted butter for a week - we couldn't eat it. My sirloin steak was very small and one end was fat which I cut off. A blood vessel ran through the center of the remainder and my knife was not tough enough to sever it. The taste was poor so I left a big chunk of meat with what looked like a long string hanging from it. I should have waved it over my head to get the attention of the waitress. My garlic potatoes were cold and the vegetables tough as nails. Attempts to cut them sent carrot slices flying across the room, interrupting other diners who were desperately trying to cut their steaks. My partner's cajun steak was overly seasoned. It was not to our liking but I am sure lots of diners would like it so he was not complaining about that. The only good part of the meal was the sauteed mushrooms Gerry ordered with his steak. We both felt sick when we left. Price was OK
Mozzarella Sticks were ok, but still a little cold on the inside. The salad was overloaded with dressing, and the chicken was still pink inside. We used to constantly frequent this establishment, however, Management is constantly rude to staff, to the point where it can be heard where customers are "enjoying" their meals. Needless to say, this is the last straw.
Our server was slow, took her 10 mins to bring us our drinks. We waited 35 mins for our dinner, and when it came, we had to ask for silverware, as we had none. There was a hair in the steak, gross. The server took it away, and the Manager, the owner's son, brought it back in less than 5 mins. And then had the audactiy to charge us full price, no discount whatsoever, just an apology for serving us a hairy steak dinner. I was appalled at the service we received, our server was nice, but very ditzy and could not handle all the tables she had. The manager walks around with a scowl on his face most of the time and yells at his staff all the time. We have stopped patronizing this very unfine establishment.
I found that the managers were loud in their rudeness to the staff, to the point that I overheard. The service was good and the food was fine.
This was a long time ago, but my first and only experience with Applebees. The service was mediocre, maybe a little slow, but what I remember most is how awful the food was. It was actually quite tasteless, and I ended with a stomach ache the rest of the night.. After a close friend telling me she always ending up with a sour stomach from eating there, I should have taken the hint.
totally suprised by how great the steaks were.. everyone loved what they got and i will definatley be returning again.
I visit Applebees on a regular bases with my father and we love it there. The staff are always pleasent, sometimes we wait a bit for our food but it is always very busy there around lunch time. The manager is great and he always makes a point of coming to our table and talking to us. At christmas time he gave us a gift because we are regulars there. You won't get that anywhere else. Some of the staff have been there for years also, so if he is yelling at them, they mustn't mind because they are still there. I have never heard any yelling well I was there and I have been there alot, probably once a week for the last 4 or 5 years.
Although the food is the same as everywhere else in Thunder Bay, the service is always great and it's worth going for their mudslides.
Food and service was awesome as usual. We go for the Clubhouse Grill.
We waited for a table for about 20 minutes, when we were seated, we were waited on quickly for drinks and such. This was my first experience here, seen advertisement on TV and thought, we should try it. Never again. Food was cold. Brocolli was raw, My mother could not bite it with her false teeth. Potatoes had a crust on them from sitting. The onion peels and sauce were great. And the bread pudding was quite nice. I complained to our waitress when i went to go pay my $90. bill and she had to confirm my complaint with her supervisor... They offered 15% off my bill. Not even the cost of my plate.
I've been to Applebees quite a number of times, some of the waitresses are awesome, some of them don't have a clue. Manager should relax and calm down, I have sat at the round table close to the kitchen, and could hear him yelling at staff in the back, very unprofessional, and unnecessary. I enjoy the food when I go, I love the Sante Fe Chicken Salad.
I was very disappointed with the experience and will not return.
I have had bad previous experience with this place but my fiance wanted to take her family here on our wedding weekend for lunch. It took 20 minutes for our app. and a total of 40 minutes for our entree. This place was only half full so we felt the food should have come sooner. Then when we got our food it was stone cold, we were hungry so we ate it. Not once did our server ask us how things were, we saw the manager walk by our table about 5 times but we did not want to complain as he looked pissed off. Then I found out he was the owners son!!!!! I wanted to give this place another chance but you guys disappointed me more then ever and I will never come back. Now I see why you guys have ads in the paper for staff every week. If the manager doesn't care how is the staff supposed to!!!!!
