If you had told Keri O’Meara that she would end up being a Pilates teacher and studio owner, she might have looked at you like you were from another planet. Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of four, Keri was a very social and creative child, but when it came to physical activities, she was always on the sidelines. “I was in pain a lot of the time,” explains Keri. “So, I was afraid and disconnected from my body.”

Armed instead with an analytic and intellectual strength, Keri earned a BA in Law and completed courses towards an MA in Journalism. It was not until her mid-twenties that she discovered Pilates, and with it, a way to alleviate symptoms so she could feel powerful in her body. “A lot of people come to Pilates because they spend their lives connected to their bodies, but I found it because I had been disconnected from mine,” recounts Keri. “Once I found the connection, it was a revelation that I could be empowered by my body – how could I not share this with other people!”

Keri completed her teacher training  in 2009 and was working full-time right away. In January of 2015, she opened the doors to MuseMovement, a Pilates and yoga studio nestled in the heart of the Artscape Youngplace building, a community cultural hub in the Trinity Bellwoods neighbourhood, where she and her talented team of teachers inspire students every day to connect to and move their bodies with joy and ease.

    As soon as I walked in to Muse , I was greeted like a friend and loved the awesome atmosphere of the studio. The classes are SO good, they are challenging to the right level & the teachers are incredibly knowledgeable & fun - the best combo! I loved Muse so much that I made it my full time studio. It's a great community.
