My spouse and I absolutely love this restaurant as it is one of our favourites in the Valley. They use local ingredients, from fresh seafood to local bison or emu, and everything is made fresh. We've never had a bad meal. We tend to order a handful of appetizer's/starters and share them...maybe order an actual entree each too (but will leave stuffed if we do!) We love the seafood - fish chowder, crab stack (like a sushi roll, similar ingredients, but stacked), manilla clams in fennel cream broth to name a few appetizer's/starters. The fish/meat entrees have been good everytime. (However, we prefer the appetizers and fresh fish entrees seem to be the best entrees). I'd say the dress code is more dressy-casual (but would not be out of place to dress up). They are open for lunch & dinner - we've done both but be aware menus are slightly different. We usually leave the kids at home as we want to enjoy the food when we go and we expect to be there at least an hour for the full dinner meal... very good overall. This is a gem and a must visit restaurant! The menu is by far better than any other menu I've ssen in the Comox valley and the Chef didn't disappoint. The ambiance and great back ground music would appear to a romantic couple or a larger party. The menu is very reasonably priced and the quality is superb. No wraps or sandwiches on this dinner menu!! We walked away from another well known restaurant because of this. We were looking for a restaurant like bisque and we highly recommend it. Lire plus

If the food was lousy I would still frequent this little hole in the wall off Comox Avenue because the Japanese family that run it are wonderful & warm. You always leave with a smile on your face. Oh! the food... Kyoneske (the chef) was trained in Japan & if he cant serve perfect sashimi he wont serve it. Ive eaten nothing there that I wouldnt order again. The diner is located in the heart of downtown Black Creek. The sign on the marquis said the best bbq in the Comox Valley...to my knowledge the only one!! Gas station, liquor store, variety store are located in the same complex. Service was good...energetic and attentive. The food...hmmmm...my wife and I ordered their BBQ platter which consisted of a 1/2 rack if ribs, 1/4 smoked chicken, and a hunk of bbq brisket. The sides included homemade potatoe salad..not the canned stuff; baked beans, and corn bread. The bbq ribs excellent...lot of meat and the sauce was fantastic....the baked beans had a slight smokey flavour and I could eat a pot of them with a pan of cornbread...smoked chicken was good, but a little dry....the brisket was a bit tough. However, large portions and I could not complete the whole meal...well worth the $20/plate. Lire plus
