Combining elements of various cuisines is an art. Blending the right ingredients, spices, sauces and techniques is something not everyone can do well. These restaurants in Edmonton offer not only a variety of different cuisines, but fusion fares as well.

Attila the Hungry (Food Truck)

1
99th Street and Jasper Ave, Edmonton AB T5J 2G8

North American comfort food meets Asian flare in this one food truck. Examples include the duck tots prepared with hoisen aioli, or the Attila dog with pineapple relish, cabbage and spicy coconut sauce. They also have an egg n’ kimchi breakfast sandwich.

Cafe Mosaics

2
10844 82 Ave NW, Edmonton AB T6E 2B3

Though a vegetarian/vegan restaurant, this is still one heck of a fusion joint. The jalamac stack is like nothing you’ve had before and is quite filling. It consists of jalapeno gouda, macaroni, (vegan) bacon, truffle and honey in sandwich format. It’s kind of a little bit of everywhere all in one.

Brewsters Brewing Company & Restaurant

3
15820 87 Ave NW, Edmonton AB T5R 5Z1

Though you wouldn’t expect fusion at a pub, this one will surprise you. Spinach and feta perogies is Hungary and Greece rolled into one sweet dough. The reuben burger is Montreal deli meets, well, a burger. It consists of a brisket patty with smoked meat, sauerkraut and dill pickles on marble rye.

State & Main

4
5015 111 Street, Edmonton AB T6H 4M6

Their gogi tacos are a perfect blend of Korean shredded pork within a Mexican staple. The spanako flatbread is a Greek take on this dish with goat cheese and baby spinach. The Saigon sub, with its hoisin-peanut-sauce-simmered chicken, sriracha aioli and sweet soy sauce, is sublime fusion at its best.

Lazia Restaurant

5
113A-10200 102 Ave NW, Edmonton AB T5J 0V1

Their menu features everything from pulled pork tacos and scallops and prawns to strozzapreti, burrata, and more. Lazia is the winner of more than 35 awards, including best fusion restaurant.

Nosh Cafe

6
102-10235 124 St NW, Edmonton AB T5N 1P9

This spot prepares a variety of both Canadian and Indian dishes, and some interesting mix of both cuisines. Try the alfredo penne with chicken tikka, the chicken masala or the samosa burgers.

Absolute Edibles Catering

7
9004 151th Avenue NW, Edmonton AB T5E 2P7

This place makes a medley of cuisines perfectly. They serve up dim sum samplers, chicken parm, BBQ pork flatbread, oysters Rockefeller, masala daal curry and jambalaya, not to mention pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and more.

On a cold, snowy Edmonton night, nothing says lovin’ like a cup of hot chocolate. It’s no surprise this drink was originally dubbed the “elixir of the gods.” Regardless of the variety you select, or whether you opt for the simplest hot chocolate on the menu, all I can say is ... don’t forget the marshmallows.
