Verna Belle, owner of La Belle Chateau, has been involved in the fashion industry for a long time in a variety of roles. So, it only made sense that she’d eventually open a clothing store that took advantage of her experience and sense of style. “I’ve always had a knack for wardrobe styling and wanted to work with women, and with quality clothing and accessories,” says Verma. “I was working as a jewellery wholesaler before this and commuting to Maple Ridge. There was a store there that I sold to and I became close with the woman who owned it. When she decided to sell the store, I took it over.”
Once Verna had the space, she set about making changes to fit her vision for the business she'd always wanted. “I was originally going to carry a lot of different things,” she recalls. “But the clothing and purses started to really take off. It’s a women’s store. They can walk in and don’t have to worry about having men around.”
