The Siamese Gecko

Flavorlicious!

We dined at the Siamese Gecko last evening for our anniversary. The menu had plenty of options, you could choose from curries, stir frys, and soups. After each meal title, there is a ranking of how spicy the dish is starting at not spicy going up to very, very spicy. I chose item 25-2 (sorry, the name escapes me) because it was under the very, very spicy and it certainly was. Even with my tongue on fire, there was an amazing amount of flavour. It was served on a platter with chicken, green beans, sweet red pepper, Thai basil, kaffir lime and crushed hot peppers. My wife had a squash curry that was delightfully creamy and the squash melted in your mouth. It was a non spicy dish with some sweetness in it and again, plenty of flavour. The prices are excellent, most dishes range from 9.99 to 11.99 and we both brought home half of our dinners. Meals do not come with rice or noodles, they are extra. However it was only 1.99 for a bowl of rice that was more than adequate and the whole cost of the meal was very affordable. Service was adequate, the restaurant was clean including washrooms. We both highly recommend!

Where is the Beef?

Well we ordered a shrimp stirfry and paid $3.00 extra on top of the $9.99, so bringing this one dish to $12.99 and for this we thought we were getting jumbo Shrimp instead they were not even medium size shrimp, and there were at tops 4 shrimp in the entire dish now thats pathetic. Then, the beef Noodle dish was comparable to a 99 cent Mr.Noddle cup, since the beef in this dish was a few threads of beef and i do mean at tops 4 threads of stringy beef, not even enough to feed a hamster if they ate beef. The last dish was a chicken curry soup and we were told its more than enough for 3 people. Well too our surprise the bowl was no bigger than 10oz and again the chicken pieces were non existent. I remember this restaurant when they were at across the street from Zellers and that was about 5 yrs ago and the food was terrific. Imagine this was feb.4 th 2011 my birthday and to my shagrin the food was no where comparable to their other location or to other Thai restaurants in the area. Very unpleased customer who has never posted a review but thought all should know my story.

Stopped for a very nice lunch. Really fresh ingredients and friendly service. Very good Thai food and distinctively better than most. Will be back soon

Great Food! Each dish is spiced differently so meal variety is awsome when shared between four. Especially enjoyed the menu indicating level of "heat". Friendly service, nice music; a great night out!
