Best Spot In Town!

LOVE this place! The food is always fantastic, the 'atmosphere' is Euro-hip, "are we in in Belgium, Berlin or London Soho??" SO not typical Guelph. The staff don't start with a Big Box "hi my name is ..." and frankly, I'm happier to know that when they do stop to chat (it's a busy place sometimes and they're pro) it's an honest conversation. Classy, creative, delicious, and won't break your bankroll. Best date spot in town, bar none! Late night DJ vibe is cool, and an excellent warmup to a fantastic night on the town. GO!

deuces sit way, way in the back

Seating at the front of the restaurant is fun and lively, taking in the kitchen & bar vibe. However, seating at the back, way back ... up the wheelchair ramp - near the washrooms - where service lacks - is simply depressing ... for a 'two person' night-out, I'd highly recommend elsewhere.

Definitely a good place to go and relax, they have great food and drinks are good too, and the restrooms are pretty Kewl too! Which stall will you pick?

I have been to Atmosphere a couple of times. Couldn't really remember too much about my first visit - neither good or bad. My visit today really didn't do much to change that either. It's not a bad place to eat, it's just not nearly the best place Guelph offers to eat. It's not even the best place in it's small stretch of Carden Street. They have a well stocked bar, and the exposed brick decor inside is quite nice. The service was quite good - friendly, polite and prompt. The main issue was with the food. Today's appetizer was tasty - a rice paper roll with Vermicelli noodles, carrots and mint inside. Problem was that they were clearly not freshly made. The rice paper was rubbery, and a couple of the rolls were still frozen in the centre. IMO, there is no excuse for not making something as easy to prepare as a rice paper roll fresh upon ordering. This was disappointing. The Pizzas we had as our entree were good. They are sized "just right" and flavourful - although table side seasoning was needed (salt/pepper). If the number of dining options in Guelph were limited, I would return without question. The reality is that there are many other choices I prefer, so I'm not sure when, or if, we'll return.

Several visits - early 2011

I have eaten at Atmosphere 3 or 4 times now. The crepes they serve on Sunday afternoon are quite nice. The pizzas actually are pretty good. Prices are reasonable, service is good. Based on my first three visits, we went back on a Sunday night and ordered full entrees. I had a salad with cranberries and pears and the Pork Tenderloin and my husband had a savoury salad (I forget which one) and the lobster and brie stuffed chicken. The salads were good, but the entrees were very boring - not much flavour at all. I dislike polenta, so wasn't surprised to dislike the polenta on the side of the pork, but even the veggies were pretty disappointing. The chicken came with sweet potato puree and veggies. All pretty flavourless. I would definitely go back, but will stick to the pizzas and salads for dinner and crepes on Sundays. Nice atmosphere and nice service, if not always totally efficient.

TASTY FOOD, Disappointing Service:(

I love Atmosphere cafe, their food, the location, and the menu. However I'm really growing tired of their lack-luster server. My husband and I frequent there at least 2-3 times a month, and we are really easy-going people to serve... We understand if they're busy or what not, but this one female server of theirs with dark hair needs.to.go...Now. We usually 'hope' that we don't get her when we go in..but we always seem to. Last week we went on a slower evening, and she usually recognizes us as regulars. Out bills are usually quite high because we like to eat a lot and have a few drinks if we do frequent this restaurant. My husband, to a fault, can almost tip TOO much at times because he feels for 'service staff' as we both worked in the industry. We never complain, and we're always patient with the service. We're always kind to her, and tip her well, yet why do we get inconsistent, rude service? It puzzled us so much our last visit, we almost felt like writing them... We were 1 of 3 couples in the whole place..yet she just slumped around, forgot our drinks..and texted on her blackberry by the bar for most of the evening. Then she just left us for a cool 20 minutes where she went...well..I don't even know where she went. Dirty dishes were lingering on the table as out mains came..we had to awkwardly ask if we could have our wine...and never without an apology? I shared our experience with our friends and they too, have had very similar experiences. I know the owners probably want a hip vibe and all with their service staff, but they really need to ride their staff a bit more. We almost didn't want to return after this experience...With a recession and a slew of eager workers out there, I just don't know why they don't hire happier, more empathetic workers. Sad. Because it IS a great place.

Went here with a group of people and we all really enjoyed our meals. I think we all ordered pizza and it was really memorable. Nice quiet spot with a good "atmosphere" (apologies for the pun).

Best place in Guelph!

Best place in guelph,hands down! The food was cooked perfect-service was great and the atmosphere is fitting to its name.I always love to bring people from out of town here,to show them how cool guelph is.

If you are interested in visiting the restaurant...

If you are interested in visiting the restaurant with more than two people be prepared to wait. A small group of friends (5) met for drinks and dinner after work. We waited for a seat, our drinks, dinner, drink refills, plates to be cleared, our bill we dare not wait around for dessert. The restaurant wasn't busy why did we have to WAIT. Beware if you are on a tight schedule

I went with my family to just have dessert, because me and my parents didn't really want to try the different foods, but my sister said that the pizza was really good, for everyone else out there. Anyway, the dessert we had was so good, and we shared a couple of mochas and they were really good too. The service was nice, and nice feel, especially with the cool bathrooms.

Great Food! Great service!

This place is awesome! The menu is unlike anything else in Guelph. The chef clearly knows what he's doing. The food was delicious. Fresh ingredients, great taste, left me wanting more only I was stuffed! The service was attentive and courteous. I will be back for sure!

Very unique menu items!

I went here with some friends from work. We called ahead to make reservations as we only had 1.5hrs to eat. They told us they had another party of 7 at the same time so they suggested we order by phone. I could understand their dilemma, so I had everyone order and called it in. When we arrived it was nice to not have to stare down the menu, instead we got to enjoy some conversation. Our food and drinks arrived on time and we made it back to work in plenty of time. The food was amazing and I can't wait to try the chicken pizza with sun-dried blueberries and brie! ( Oh and next time I will visit the washrooms no matter what!).

A great atmosphere and food for a reasonable price

I work down the street and have visited Atmosphere many times with co-workers. We find the service to be timely (we can be done within our lunch hour), the staff pleasant, the food very appealing, tasty and interesting (including the fruit infused water). I often get the pesto chicken sandwich which comes on focaccia bread. It's huge and is only $8...a great deal. The restaurant is aptly named, as you must visit at least once to enjoy the decor...and to visit the 5 bathrooms designed after earthly elements.

The Pizza is Amazing

I have been to Atmosphere many times with friends and have always enjoyed myself. I stick to ordering one of their great pizzas. They have a fairly large variety of different kinds of pizzas to choose from, all with exciting and delicious toppings. More exotic than you would find at a fast-food pizza chain. However my friends who have strayed from the pizza have always had mixed reviews, the portions were sometimes small, and the dishes weren't quite right. The restaurant itself is attractive with its stone walls and artwork, and the servers are nice. It is a bit expensive though. Still I think its worth a visit.

Pear Salad. Yum!

I have been coming to Atmosphere for several years now, and am happy to see they have recently changed their menu and brought back an "old favourite", the Pear Salad. It is quite simple: fruit, nuts & cheese... but it is the dressing that I really love. They have some great new pizzas. We shared the Portobello mushroom and were very impressed. Can't wait to try some of the others!

service with NO smile!

Loved the Pizza and cheesecake but out server was extremely slow and unfriendly, We had to ask for refills on our drinks ask for the bill she was slow taking our plates away the place wasn't even busy. I like the food and modern look of the place loved the art on the stone walls. The only thing lacking is service with a smile.

Good Atmosphere.....

This restaurant/Bar is rightly named...I would go here for the atmoshpere....NOT for the service. The food is good -over priced for value. Our cocktails took forever, our caesar salad arrived without any salad dressing on it, we had to ask for it on the side, and that took a long time to get so the salad was more like a dessert. The service was quite slow....but the atmosphere made that less of a big deal.

After hearing from a friend about Martini Night...

After hearing from a friend about Martini Night on Thursdays I thought I would give it a try. There were about 10 Martinis in the $6 range. We choose the Summer Breeze as the crowd favourite. Definately enjoyed the fact that we could get tasty food even after 11pm to nibble on. Server was charming and attentive. The music and ambiance were chill. I will recommend it to friends.

First time here and I liked it. I'm not normally the 'pizza place' type, but this place is pretty cool. Nice decor. Service was a little lacking: slow and not too attentive. Long time to order and food took a while. But, it was tasty food when it arrived. I ordered the 'special of the day' pizza I'll go back.
