Humane Society

Wanted to adopt a dog and filled out all the paperwork to find out they wouldn't let us because my two shitzus who are mother and son and are 10 and 9 years old weren't fixed. That's a choice we made and shouldn't let something that absurd stop an animal to be adopted by a loving family!! So sad. I will never go again. They should really watch who they hire as well as we got the most ignorant women today!!

Very friendly people there. Only giving them one star though. We were looking to add a cat to our home to ward away the mice so we found the cat we wanted at the humane society and got all the paperwork filled out and spent more time with the cat ready to take her home. As soon as I am ready to pay the lady behind the desk informs me that I won't be able to get a cat from them, simply because I have two German shepherds at home already. I was told very rudely that I would be better off saving my money instead of buying a cat and spend it taking care of my dogs. I have two healthy dogs and a loving home where the cat would have had a great life but we got denied giving her a caring home. Well, we are happy to say that we have her now. Went to the extent of getting someone else to buy her and get her for us. We have had her for 4 months now and she gets along extremely well with our two German shepherds. Acts like one of th dogs. She is healthy and happy here with us. The humane society made a huge mistake and I do not ever recommend anyone going there simply because I believe that the people who work there are biased and get to pick and choose who they allow to adopt an animal. I will never go there again. I would rather drive 8 more hours to Kitchener Waterloo and do my business there. If anyone ever asks me how I feel about the Sault Ste. Marie humane society I will not hesitate to tell them how I really feel:
