Toki - 43%
A blended whisky from Suntory's three distilleries: Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. Toki has a different composition to another Suntory blend, Hibiki, as its main components are Hakashu single malt and Chita grain whisky. It should work really well in a highball.
Fun fact: 'Toki' means 'time' in Japanese.
Tokinoka black - 50.3%
Created by Master Blender Akito Ueda, this Japanese blended whisky from White Oak distillery is a variation of the original Tokinoka blend. A mix of 50% malt whisky and 50% grain whisky it has been aged in three different types of cask ex-bourbon, Xeres and virgin oak casks. A richer, fruitier blend than the original, Tokinoka Black has notes of pineapples, mangoes and toasted oak, building into spicier notes of ginger, black pepper and cinnamon. The finish is long and lingering, with notes of vanilla and honey.
Tottori - 43%
Bourbon barrels help to bring out all the aromas of American oak to Matsuis blend. Non chill-filtered.
Nikka 51.4 - 51.4%
The award-winning Nikka Whisky From The Barrel blend is absolutely full of flavour. Bottled at 51.4% ABV. The blend combines both single malt and grain whisky from the Miyagikyo and Yoichi distilleries, which are then married in a huge variety of casks, including bourbon barrels, sherry butts and refill hogsheads. A huge depth of flavour in this stunning Japanese whisky. We can't recommend this enough.
Junenmyo Rouge - 40.5%
Wakatsuru has been producing whiskey since 1952.
A 5-year-old Blended whiskey from the little known Wakatsuru Shuzou distillery (Sake) in Toyama.
The Junenmyo is made from wakatsuru unblended malt whisky and Selected Scotch grain whiskey, they have released a very small amount 10,000 bottles stock in a year.
Fuyu - 40%
A blended Japanese whisky made with malts and grains from distilleries on Japan's Honshu island. For those not keeping track, that's the main island of Japan, housing the lion's share of Japanese whisky distilleries. The label features some sort of giant snake/dragon with many people hands confronting a rightfully-confused chap with a sweet mask.
Hibiki - 43%
Harmony - a rather apt word to describe this well-balanced Japanese blended whisky from the Hibiki range. Hibiki Japanese Harmony is made with malt whiskies from the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, as well as grain whisky from the Chita distillery. The whiskies are drawn from 5 different types of cask, including American white oak casks, Sherry casks and Mizunara oak casks. The blend itself was crafted by the Suntory Whisky blending team, led by Master Blender Shingo Torii. An elegant expression, with wafts of honey, orange, a herbaceous touch or two and light oak.
Iwai - 40.5%
Mars Iwai Whisky is one of the newer Japanese whiskies thats been showing up on the shelves over the last couple of years. Its a distillery thats been around for a while and is known for high quality whisky in Japan, but in America its just getting its feet wet.
Miyagikyo single malt- 45%
Replacing the previous NAS Miyagikyo single malt as well as the remaining age statement expressions, this single release will represent the distillery going forward as demand for Japanese whisky remains as strong as ever. The new single malt is said to be made with whiskies spanning various ages (hinting at the inclusion of older whiskies than the previous NAS release) with classic delicate, floral character and primarily ex-Sherry casks used for maturation.
Taketsuru pure malt- 43%
Taketsuru's no-age-statement blended malt contains a high percentage of malt from Miyagikyo, with the reminder coming from Yoichi. Aged on average for around 10 years in a variety of different cask types, including some sherry wood for extra richness.
Yoichi single malt - 45%
The latest Yoichi single malt will replace both the previous NAS release and the remaining age statement whiskies. The change comes as demand continues to stretch Nikka's aged stock, with this new Yoichi Single Malt (made of of whiskies of various ages) aimed at representing this special distillery's direct-coal-heated, peated yet fruity style.
Kamiki - 40%
Perfectly balanced with heather honey, sweet caramel, Japanese plum, balanced oak, peat and toffee with hints of sandalwood and green tea. Non chill-filtered at 48% alcohol to keep its natural flavors at maximum. Blended at its peak flavor, rather than a predetermined ratio. As a result, each batch is unique and limited with stocks.
Shima Fukuro 30 year - 40%
Founded back in 1964, the Tokachi-Ikeda winery is the oldest in Hokkaido. Managed in a unique way, the winery is operated by the town of Ikeda, who cultivates the grapes, and brews and sells the wine. This Shima Fukuro 30 year old brandy is truly excellent stuff. If you like brandy, give this bottle a try!
