Edmonton beauty salons worth your time

Désolé, le contenu de cette page est uniquement disponible en anglais.

Beauty salons should look and feel luxurious. You want a relaxing, comfortable experience where issues of time and cleanliness don’t even come to mind. These beauty salons are just the place for this kind of experience, whether it’s a new ‘do, a facial, a mani-pedi – or all of the above.

Michael Charles Salon Spa

1
1128 91 St SW, Edmonton AB T6X 0P2

Located on the south side of Edmonton in Summerside, this salon is open seven days a week. They offer haircuts and colour for men and women, plus waxing, threading, manicures and pedicures. Walk-ins are usually easily accommodated, and service is friendly and efficient. They carry Moroccanoil products, as well as Bed Head, Nioxin, AG and more.

Revive Hair Loft Corp

2
101-2951 Ellwood Dr SW, Edmonton AB T6X 0B1

In addition to offering cuts, colour and styling for men and women’s hair, this salon also does extensions and hair treatments, such as hydrating hair masques. They carry Kevin Murphy products, which are free of sulphates and parabens, in addition to Moroccanoil, Olaplex, Artego and DS Laboratories products. Located on the south side, just off of Ellerslie Road, the salon is easy to find, and is open Tuesday to Saturday.

Limelight Hair Studio

2971 Ellwood Dr SW, Edmonton AB T6X 0B1

Located on the south side of Edmonton, just minutes from South Edmonton Common, Limelight Hair Studio is a small but efficient space. You never have to wait for your stylist if you have an appointment – I love places that don’t waste my time by making me wait. Punctuality is always appreciated! And the stylists are all friendly, warm and well-trained. They never push you beyond your comfort zone but are totally open to suggestions.

Mousy Browns

4
10240 124 St NW, Edmonton AB T5N 3W6

This is definitely the “it” salon in Edmonton. It’s where the cool people go to get their hair cut and dyed. The location is part of it – the salon is in the up-and-coming 124th Street district. The stylists are also hip and up to date – some of them regularly take care of the hair on set for fashion shoots. They cut men and women’s hair but they only do hair – that focus is what makes them so fabulous at what they do.

Eveline Charles

5
5015 111 Street NW, Edmonton AB T6H 4M6

There are multiple locations of this salon and spa, which was founded in British Columbia. The South Common location includes a medical spa but the Southgate spa is my favourite, because of the great pedicure room. You get to sit on what is basically the equivalent of a pedicure throne while your esthetician pampers you with Eveline Charles’ fabulous line of products. Their mango scrub is the best body exfoliator out there and their nail polish line is free of harmful chemicals.

Dandy Salon Spa

6
11104 82 Ave NW, Edmonton AB T6G 2L8

Dandy is a cute multi-level salon and spa on Whyte Avenue, close to the University of Alberta. There’s lots of rain features throughout the rooms and tons of light. They offer waxing, mani-pedis, body wraps, facials and hair services. If you’re indecisive or need a total spa overhaul, go for the spa sampler, which is 90 minutes of pure pleasure – manicure, pedicure, facial and peel, and a shoulder, scalp and neck massage.

Melange Salon & Spa

7
102-1207 91 St SW, Edmonton AB T6X 1E9

Another south side gem – Melange Salon & Spa is on the main floor of a converted house. The bright yellow exterior is matched by the sunny disposition of the staff. The light-filled salon is so cute and cheery. They do waxing, nails and facials, in addition to hair services. There is a focus on organic, natural products here, and they do their best to offer products that minimize environmental impact, like the amazing Kevin Murphy line of hair products.

If Old Man Winter has got you feeling down, take solace in the fact that there is tons of fun stuff to do inside and outside. These Edmonton attractions and winter festivals will immediately perk you up.
If you’ve ever worried about shampoo chemicals or wondered what happens to your highlighter foils, you’ve likely realized that hair maintenance is tough on the environment. Many salons are dedicated to environmentally friendly, sustainable practices, such as recycling and using ammonia-free hair dyes. These hair studios make being eco-friendly chic and easy.
Threading, which originated in Asia, is all the rage in countries all over the world now. The technique, which involves using a looped thread to twist and yank a row of hairs from the follicle, is popular for the precise results it offers. Plus, threading works really well on people with sensitive skin, such as those on Retin A or Accutane. These Edmonton spas offer threading for eyebrows and more.
