Gastropubs: For those who like to drink and eat in Edmonton

Désolé, le contenu de cette page est uniquement disponible en anglais.

Ever want to go out for some nice drinks, but want something a little more than just typical pub food? Then a gastropub might be for you. They focus around both food and drinks so you can get the best of both worlds!

The Common

1
9910 109 St NW, Edmonton AB T5K 1H5

For a period of time, couple of my friends and I were regulars at The Common. We would come every Friday for some drinks and food. The atmosphere there is great, and the staff are even better. Their small antipasto could feed four people relatively easily and it is a great price. For their larger fair, they have one of the best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had!

Daravara

2
10713 124th Street NW, Edmonton AB T5M 0H2

Daravara is a small little place right on 124 Street and 107 Avenue. They definitely have a bit of a smaller, neighbourhood vibe. They serve a lot of great and unique dishes, such as popcorn chicken hearts, and their housemade beer cheese. If you can’t make it for dinner, they have a great brunch too and won third best brunch in Edmonton in Avenue magazine’s March 2015 edition.

Glass Monkey

3
5842 111 St NW, Edmonton AB T6H 3G1

The Glass Monkey is a self-proclaimed gastropub that offers a large mix of different dishes. To go with their extensive wine and beer list, they have great food choices, such as their housemade sausage and their homemade pappardelle pasta. This place is great to go to with friends for some nice drinks and a quick bite to eat!

The Next Act Pub & Grill

4
8224 104 St NW, Edmonton AB T6E 4E6

The Next Act Pub is definitely a great place to go for some drinks and good burgers. I really like the atmosphere and staff there, and it is definitely one of my favourite hang-out spots. One of my favourite drinks to get is Crabbie’s ginger beer. It can be a bit of a tough find at times, so I’m glad it’s served here, and it goes great with their smoked chicken sandwich!

The Bothy Wine & Whiskey Bar

5
5482 Calgary Trail NW, Edmonton AB T6H 4J8

There aren’t too many whiskey bars in Edmonton, and The Bothy definitely has an impressive list of whiskey, along with wine and beer. Another unique thing about this restaurant is that it is one of the few places in Edmonton where you can get haggis! If you’re feeling a bit adventurous, give this place a try for some haggis, along with one the whiskies from their huge collection. If you’re a bit faint of heart, their chicken pie is really good too!

The Underground Tap & Grill

6
10004 Jasper Ave NW, Edmonton AB T5J 1R3

The Underground Tap & Grill is another pub located right on Jasper Avenue and 100 Street. One thing that I have to mention about this place is that it is really good for gluten-free options. They have an impressive amount of menu items and, to go along with that, an equally impressive list of draft beer. Give this place a try! And, definitely get something to snack on!

Izakaya Tomo

7
3739 99 St NW, Edmonton AB T6E 6J7

When you think about going out for drinks, your mind might not go immediately to sake, but you should try it some time at Izakaya Tomo. They have a large variety to choose from and, to go along with the sake, a big selection of delicious Japanese food. I’ve often gone there just for the food itself! Try the takoyaki - you won’t regret it!

The food truck scene in Edmonton has only gotten better over the last few years. And, what with us being the city known for its numerous festivals, there is no better venue than outdoors to pig out and enjoy some delicious food from the food trucks on a beautiful summer day. This short list is only few of many delicious trucks to choose from! [Image credit: iStock.com/Maica]
The great thing about noodles is how universal and international it is. In almost all cuisines around the world, there is some sort of noodle or pasta dish. Here is a list of different kinds of noodles from different kinds of cuisines in the world, each with its own twist.
Going out to eat can be a bit restrictive if you’re vegetarian. Options are limited, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go out for some good food! These restaurants are some of my favourite places for some vegetarian food! [Image credit: iStock.com/haoliang]
