My husband and I were vacaying in Sauble Beach and came across this gem for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We order saucages on the side. Not realising how big the bacon and eggs breakfast would be. But holy cow, the saucege although it looked ugly was about 8 inches long, and was the best tasting saucege that either of us has ever had. Definitely a place to go back to, you have to try this out!Lire plus

Having spent many forgettable hours in the old Pacific when it was a straight bar with a pool table, I was intrigued to see what the new owners had done especially as being from Jamaica, they have introduced some staples from The Islands into their menu. Pool table long gone and nicely laid out tables with linen napkins (!!), fresh dark paint greeted us. Orville, the owner's son welcomed us and his evident enthusiasm for the jerk chicken roti convinced my friend (who generally is a very fussy and unadventurous eater) and I to try that. It comes with choice of salad or soup of the day which on this Saturday night was curried pea (chick peas). The soup was excellent: thick, creamy, flavourful with just enough curry to satisfy and not spicy hot at all but warming as soup should be. Jodi took over and brought our roti which was full of flavour, once again mild in heat but you can have (as I did) a side bowl with some wickedy hot Jamaican sauce. The shredded chicken/potato combination was wrapped in a phyllo pastry adding richness to the warm mouthfeel of the dish. It and the soup was a really full meal. After-dinner coffee was very, very strong. Extremely friendly service and the tasty entrees make this a delightful addition in a veritable wasteland for well-prepared, good food. I'll be interested to try their take on some of the many regular menu items (steaks, pork, burgers, etc., etc.).Lire plus

I took my friend Gail to this restaurant as I had eaten there several times before, we were greeted and seated quickly, bathrooms were very clean, served our beverages quickly while we relaxed in a clean and friendly atmosphere. The fish and chips were awesome and plentiful and well cooked, Gails liver and onions were tender and flavorful. We had to skip desert because we were just too full...yes we will definitley return to Top Notch...great food and reasonably priced...friendly and knowledgeable staff.Lire plus
Interesting and varied new menu items highlight a new season in this well-established eatery. The three-course Friday night special I had was truly wonderful, exciting, flavourful food. A mesclum mix was restrained by slices of cucumber, sliced lengthwise and curved to form a holder for the leaves, the whole drizzled with a piquant apple-based vinagrette. The pork tenderloin entree was three large pieces stuffed with a savoury dressing that was so tasty and plentiful that while I finished the pork, I took the rest of the stuffing home. Dessert was a chocolate/caramel custard in a crunchy pastry shell, topped with fresh strawberries and blackberries. Portion size gave good value for the price which was reasonable for the quality. Presentation throughout was as artistic as any classy place in Toronto but the outstanding things about the meal, to my mind, were the number of homemade items (dressing, stuffing, pudding, pastry) and the commitment to flavour everywhere. Outstanding!Lire plus
Don’t be put off by the unprepossessing Quonset hut, unpaved driveway with pretensions of becoming a parking lot, the rural discard dump in the orchard at the rear, an unfinished interior all of which greet you. The warmth of the welcome, the excellent service and generally very good food will quickly dispel any doubts about why this unique restaurant, in the proverbial “middle of nowhere”, has been a food draw for years.
The menu (better organised on their website) is physically scattered on an unco-ordinated myriad of small, sponsored blackboards that cover one wall and the bar area and takes some time to read and digest lest one miss something. Not all of the exotic meats for which this restaurant is noted will be available on any one night (no kangaroo or crocodile yesterday) but there will enough to make your selection adventurous. In addition to this untraditional fare, there are lots of tried and true items from farm and field, lake and ocean.
And, with a few mis-steps, it’s really good stuff!
The appetizers, for once of proper appetizer size and not a “meal-for-six” as at some restaurants were the lesser in quality. While the mussels got a 7/10, the scallops were overcooked and stringy; the garlic bread was nice but the $13 alligator strips were just ok, rather undistinguished and the accompanying plum sauce was bottle-bland.
Entrees were the strength however. The tasty and meaty double lamb shanks were heartily demolished, the seafood bake scrumptious but needed a little kick. The two of us who had the ostrich medallion raved about the tender, perfectly cooked, flavourful, substantial meat, the dark, pungent gravy and the unique stir-fry veggie mix. The crowning glory of my meal though, was a huge, decadently dynamic, full-on, loaded, double-baked potato…$4 extra and worth every cent.
Desserts are locally made with a varied selection, the wine list bare bones but adequate (2 reds, 2 whites). A nice quaffy surprise awaits with the, unusual for this part of the world, rich, full-bodied Granville Island ale on tap, redolent of the glories of the west coast, Vancouver style.
Overall, certainly not cheap and a drive from most anywhere (I’m an hour and a half away) but worth the dollars and the miles. And a return visit. Check the website for days and hours of operation.Lire plus

Mr Roberts did a complete bathroom renovation and replaced it with a customized new bathroom. 1500'Sq floor was replaced with hand scraped flooring. Combined two rooms into one space with French doors. The work was done on time, within budget and to our full satisfaction. He has been back to do more renovations.
