Fun Works Studio

Pottery and glass, perhaps more than any other materials on earth, bring people together.  When we sit around the dinner table or grab coffee with friends, it’s pottery and glassware that sits between us. It is based on this very sense of community and togetherness that Amy Side founded Fun Works Studio.

“The studio unofficially began when I was working at the University of Calgary,” says Amy. “I created a program for refugees in the city, where we painted plates and glass together and I fired them in the kiln. Then they came over to my home and we ate together using what they made.” The project was very successful in helping refugees feel at home and, after she finished the project, Amy was left with all the major components you need for a pottery and glass studio. Fun Works Studio was officially founded in Chestermere soon after; the outlet teaches people about pottery and glassware, and provides a space to make their own creations.
