Shanloon Restaurant

Was given time slot for Christmas Eve pick up, waited over an hour and half for pick up. No apology, no explanation, no compensation. Absolutely ridiculous.

This. Place. Suck. Worst managed restuarant every. Call at 5 for delivery and cant get anything out until 630 at the earliest. This is not a one off situation, it's always like this. Actually havnt eaten here in over a year but tried to on several occasions. They lose money and customers every day but when your are the only chinese food restaurant you can do whatever you want I guess. This. TOWN. Sucks. Worst managed city as well.

Very Good buffet, takeout better

Good variety. Hot, refilled often. Tasty. Best times to go are when busiest so it's right outta the kitchen. Needs Hot & Sour soup instead of Wonton which I've yet to see anyone take. Limited salad bar, desserts are ice cream and squares. Decent prices. Take out is excellent but you need to remind them when you call to put in free wings and rice with orders over 25 or 35 dollars. Check b4 you leave.

Great variety and tasty food

Pembroke is really lucky to have such a full-fledged buffet. Everything is well cooked and unlike some places, doesn't all taste the same. The spicy pork is really spicy and has a fresh taste. The chicken balls have lots of meat and the red sauce goes well with them. If you arrive too early some dishes won't be ready, but when they are ready, the staff keep everything replenished quickly. You won't leave hungry! I LOVE the shrimp skewers! The atmosphere is nice and calm, although it's a little chilly in the winter somtimes. The parking lot can get really full and a bit tricky to get in and out of. The staff are friendly but the need to interact is minimal in a buffet restaurant. The one lady always says "Enjoy your meal" even when there's no meal in front of you, and sometimes when you're paying and leaving.

It's A Buffet for Sure

Service is what you expect from the poor girl who is there everyday all day long and doesn't get tips! I'd do the same! That's why we usually tip her above average! They always are full inhouse and have Hot Fresh food everytime we are there, we go maybe once every 2 months -3 months as we live in Deep River. The only complaint i had a HUGE issue with was, we paied on our last visit and were told we would likely have been charged twice to call back and they would fix the deal. Sure enough we get home check our records and we've been charged twice. I called the resturant and had to be passed from person to person finally to the owner? who I couldn't understand, they REFUSED to come bring us the money we had to make a trip BACK into pembroke on the OWNERS terms/times! HOW RUDE!!!! We have not been back since.....

good food

Good Chinese food buffet style. I eat lunch here about once every two to three months and I keep coming back. Table clearer/waitress was quick with our drinks and plates were cleared from the table frequently. Only problem I have with the place is I eat way too much food - as it's so tasty.

We routinely order take-out from Shanloon to avoid the horrible service in-house. The food was really good, however, our order was incorrect. We received a chicken dish instead of beef. When calling to advise them of the mistake, the service was horrible. We needed to speak to multiple people and ask for a replacement since all they would initially offer was a "sorry". They wanted us to go pick up the exchange and we needed to insist delivery (like the original order was). To add insult to injury we received a call back from someone requesting that we leave the incorrect item open so they could "make sure there was no beef in it" in an accusatory tone. We aren't liars, we just want the beef with greens we clearly see listed on our reciept!

Take out better than buffet

I will now only order take out here. I will not subject myself to the surroundings, cold food and poor service any longer.

I've been there three times and I guess I thought the first time was bad and it just happens. I went back to give them a second chance as they are the "Winner of the Reader's Choice Award"?!!? Ok.. the 3rd time was stupid on my part for trying again and it was nothing but dissatisfaction and total frustration! - The food was so greasy, almost half of the buffet was empty and the rest was luke warm and tasteless. - The waitress slammed our drink on the table like she was angry at us for some reason! Other dinners looked like to feel the same way as their service was affected with her PMS like attitude! - When it was time for us to pay, the waitress told me she needed to go on her smokebreak and would come back after! I asked the other waitress if I could pay them and I was told that I could not!!! - So I had to wait until my angry waitress came back from her 10-15 mins smoke break so I could pay my bill!!! - I called the manager the next day and got absolutely nowhere! I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS PLACE... WHO ARE THESE READERS AND HOW CAN THEY CHOSE A PLACE LIKE THIS YEAR AFTER YEAR???

I have given this place lots of chances. One time out of soda, another never keeping the hot tables full, tables which have no variety anyway. But overall the worst issue is the service which just makes me feel like I bothered them to even come in the door. I took my little one there, and walked out the door after a while just because it seemed we were getting in the way of their day. This resteraunt could only survive in Pembroke

A Chinese buffet is much the same as any other...

A Chinese buffet is much the same as any other Chinese buffet - but the Shanloon's food was absolutely delicious. All the food was hot and fresh and the staff kept the steam tables filled at all times. There was a nice selection of meat and vegetables and also seafood. Nice to see that there were also some 'not-so-Chinese' dishes for those picky eaters (ie children). The waitress was courteous and attentive and very friendly. Overall, a pleasant dining experience.

When I visit a restaurant, I expect to be greeted with a smile, or a hello, but when you get neither, it's pretty insulting. When our food was brought to us, it was litterally thrown on the table...we should've left, but we were too hungry. The food is mediocre.
