Real Chinese food!

Dim sum at the Canton doesn't disappoint. It's always fresh, authentic, and delicious as it should be. My only issue is with the service, which is inconsistent depending on who is serving. The hired staff is preferred over the owners, as they are more friendly and patient with customers. The owner isn't unpleasant per se, but just a little too involved and expectant. Love the restaurant overall, either for dimsum or an authentic Chinese dinner item. The service fades into the background with food that good!

Awesome all around. I've never had a bad...

Awesome all around. I've never had a bad experience here. The service is always super prompt even during the very busy lunch hour. The food is alway great (especially the hot and sour soup) and the prices are completely reasonable. I love their little lunch menu, which makes it really handy to pick a combo if you're in a hurry. I've had similar food at other comparible restaurants around town, and this place is awesome.

If your looking for the best dim sum place in Thunder Bay this is the place. The selection is pretty good and the food is great (for what is expected). Price is reasonable too and is clean. Like others have mentioned, look at the second menu for more traditional chinese dishes...much better than the canadian chinese food! All in all, the best chinese restaurant in Thunder Bay

I don't know what the other review had, but it must have been at a different restaurant. Canton restaurant is a little different from your standard Cantonese restaurant in that it also specializes in cooking from Fujian Province. While the style is similar to the common Cantonese style cooking there are some differences in the use of spicy items and different techniques. I have been there several times and have thoroughly enjoyed it. BTW, although small, they have a reasonable dim sum (as can be expected in TBay).

It's an amazing restaurant, but you have to not look at the first menu. The second menu offered provides an amazing collage of unknown traditional chinese food. It's definately one of the best.

IT'S REALLY NICE TO SEE THAT SOME OF THE CHINEESE FOOD PLACES IN THIS CITY OFFER MORE THAN JUST WESTERN STYLE CHINEESE!! I'VE BEEN TO A FEW CHINA TOWNS THROUGHOUT CANADA, AND THE SPECIAL MENUE ITEMS VERY MUCH RESEMBLE DISHES I HAVE FOUND IN VARIOUS CHINA TOWNS. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A LITTLE VARIETY IN YOUR CHINEESE, CANTON'S THE PLACE!

the service was decent enough, but nothing great. kind of reminds me of the food. it was ok, but compared to a few other restaurant i visit, it was subpar.
