Blink and you’ll miss this pint-size pet store on St. Clair West. Mutts & Cats is home to a curated selection of pet food and toys for your favourite furry companions. The neighbourhood shop has changed hands a couple of times over the years, but the business has remained devoted to providing products that local pet owners have come to depend on.

Deborah Stewart, a local dog-owner and jet-setting flight director, bought the business in November 2014 after becoming more engaged with the local pet community via dog parks and frequent visits to Mutts & Cats. Her Pomeranian, Belle, has become her permanent sidekick at the brick-and-mortar business.

“I like the fact that it’s really small and quaint,” she says. “When people come in they’re not overwhelmed by too many choices or too many toys. Because I sell the items that sell the best over and over, I’m selling good quality stuff, and I try and sell merchandise only made in Canada, toys especially.”
