For special occasions, my family always goes to Candies of Merritt. It's a family-run business that sells the best chocolate in Guelph. I'm especially fond of their maple chocolates. They also make superb fudge and create special flavours for holidays.

Rose and Angie go above and beyond for you in finding the perfect gift for your loved ones. Today I went to get a birthday gift for my husband who will be 60. Rose found the perfect gift, and Angie took the time to inscribe the special message I wanted on the gift. I cried tears of joy when I saw how beautifully it was done. This is primarilly a tea room that open to serve lunch only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays - 11am to 3pm I believe. The setting is a country styled gift shop with tables and chairs & light music in the background. The views from the dining area are quite nice, and it's not unusual to see deer and other wildlife just outside the window. Everything is home made (soups & desserts). Very tasty food in a very relaxing atmosphere. We've been there so many times for tea, soup, and dessert that we've come to know the owner / operator a little bit (Maryln) - a very nice lady.
