We just finished up with our first time ever Thursday night steak dinner. Wow! Truly tender and full of that beef flavour we are all looking for. The value you get for half the price as the big players like the kegs. We are playing our next evening out to see if this was a one time perfect steak. I truly believe the chef is really experienced as he was talking to us and explain what he inspects and excepts before he brings it in. Oh it comes with Mash potatoes and green peas. Well presented. The nachos are to die for, and I don't even like nachos very much. The menu was severely limited due to the incredible business that is Pride Week, and I was at a stretch finding something vegetarian and to my liking. After being told that they were accepting no substitutions (understandably, but I just wanted no mayo and onion on the veggie burger), I went with my second choice, the curry. I wasn't expecting much, but it succeeded my expectations. Not fantastic and it needed more than a sprinkle of salt, but pleasant nonetheless. Co-diners raved about their nachos and pulled pork. Service was a bit scattered due to business, but were very friendly. When a beer was brought to our table that wasn't ordered -- but welcomed! -- he let us have it on the house. The Decor is fantastic. Tables and chairs are well-constructed, and the lighting sets a charming mood. The food is well-prepared and fresh. Honey Garlic Sesame Chicken (not quite General Tao, but close enough) was very crunchy and well-textured. They used real honey so the sauce on the chicken was thick and rich. The beef rollover was good and cooked well but could have had a bit more sauce in it, a little dry to chew and swallow. The real treat was the soup-filled pork dumplings which exploded with flavour every time. This is an active and busy restaurant, so be prepared for lots of people eating and settling at tables. The staff works to clear the tables quickly, but they can sometime seem abrupt in their manner. Washroom has modern fixtures and is kept clean. Lire plus
