This place is the hottest freshest fast food in Nanaimo. Honestly, no one else serves food this good anywhere else. My spinach burrito was out of this world. Instead of waiting in the bridge traffic we did a last minute decision to eat first before traveling across Lion's Gate. The burger was pricey but very good, not at all greasy and juicy. In a way the healthiest I have had. You can say you want all the fixings or whatever you want for condiments. The fries are of a good size, skin on, and unlimited peanuts to help yourself with and bottomless pop. The restaurant was busy and tables not timely cleaned up after guests. Lire plus

Like any of the Joey chain locations they have great food and the ambiaatmosphere nce is great, especially the waitstaff's looks. The service is like any other restaurant of the chain and they really care. The only thing is there are so many better Joeys in the city. Just becue we are in Burnaby does't mean we don't like to see the young Joey ladies. I mean it is an insult that they provide less attractive women just because we are in a suburb. This restaurant has all the key elements to good dining! I go here almost every week because we appreciate the service and the quality of the food. Even the chef is willing to lend a hand at serving the food at peak times. My favorite would be Malaysian menu! Excellent dish to have for lunch coupled with a chicken-corn soup to start. Modern Korean restaurant in the Westend just off of Robson. We tried their BBQ beef rib meal for two plus Bu Dae Ji Gae which was surprisingly not spicy. Both dishes were flavorful and delicious. I have been here twice now. Once we were a table of two and the most recent time with a large group. Having a standing menu angled so you can read it to choose your meal is kind of neat. Allows them to update their menu easily. We had the assiette campanarde, rabbit, special beef cheeks and creme brûlée to finish it off. We chose this location as it served both brunch and lunch options on Sundays and it takes reservation through OpenTable. We tried the breakfast manouche, lamb sausage with poached eggs and lamb kafta. Both were very good and flavorful. Their daily juice special was made with fresh ginger and it gave it a nice kick. The service was good and the lower level of the restaurant was full. Lots of pay street parking else park a few blocks away where there are no meters in the residential surroundings. Lire plus

Presto Cucina, conveniently located at Five Corners, is a delightful little place ... not too fancy, yet classy enough for a business dinner or lunch. Dishes are ordered at the counter, cooked in an open kitchen and later delivered to your table on very hot plates by friendly staff. Beverages and refills are available at a side-bar. The furnishings are comfortable (about 15 tables and four large booths), and the noise level is muted. The menu is varied --- Italian with a west-coast flair. The food, cooked from scratch after you order, looks and tastes very fresh. My salmon in a wine-cream sauce was coupled with tasty tortellini, baked, and topped with lots of cheese, then broiled to brown the topping. My companion's baked chicken penne was "delicious" and had lots of fresh mushrooms and artichokes added. Portions are appropriate. The restaurant looks onto busy traffic and is not in a spot where gazing at the scenery is an option, but the good food and clean, friendly atmosphere enhances conversation, so you don't worry about what's going on outside. The little gelatto shop next door (maybe owned by the same family?) provides a lovely variety of ice creams, sherbets, etc. to clear your palate after your meal. However, if you have enough room for Presto Cucina's lemon torte, do give it a try ... it's to die for! Eat in or take out only ... too bad they don't do deliveries, so I could eat Presto Cucina every night! Lire plus
