"Some people are really nervous about laser procedures," says Jessica Pillay, marketing manager of Dreams Laser & Spa in Langley. "But once they've had the procedure done, they wonder 'why didn't I do this before?' It's a very quick procedure for hair removal and much less painful than waxing."

Jessica notes that most people come into the salon with a skin or hair issue. "The difference between us and a regular spa is we offer therapeutic laser treatments and facials designed to address a problem area or a challenging issue." Regular spas, she says, specialize in pampering and relaxing, while medical, or med, spas offer that plus much more.

"We obviously want our clients to leave feeling pampered and relaxed, but they've usually come to us to address issues such as hair removal, age spots or skin rejuvenation."

By far the most popular request at Dreams Laser & Spa is for hair removal by laser treatment. "And it's not just women," says Jessica. "We have many male clients who want hair removed from their shoulders, chest or back."
