An experience I will not repeat. Went out for a lady's luncheon to a restaurant , that years ago had the best food!! After perusing the menu, we asked if there were any lunch specials. They don't offer that anymore. The menu consisted of appetizers and full meals. We were hoping for a good salad with local fare as it was July. A nice sandwich or wrap would have been nice too or a good soup or a combination of these. We were not looking for a full dinner meal. In the appetizers section they offered one green salad which we all ordered and then we ordered a creation called a "pot of shrimp". This was the worse creation I have ever eaten. It consisted of a skewer of bread toast rounds and a small jar packed with small shrimp, capers, garlic and butter. Apparently it is supposed to be like lobster in drawn butter and then solidified. It was horrible!! I came away feeling like I had eaten pure butter by the spoonful. The patrons next to us seemed to have a salad with chicken on top, so we asked the waitress if she could tell us what they had ordered. She informed us that these ladies had called ahead and asked of they could have a piece of chicken or salmon on top of a salad. She knew we were having a hard time deciding what we could eat, but never offered this option to us. Will never go back....

    no service

Stopped in for lunch last weekend. We are greeted at the door and told to take any booth we wanted. Sat down and waited, and waited, and waited. The girl walked back and forth to and from the bar many times. They may of been short staffed. We finally left and went down the street to the Brew House and had an good meal with good service.

Finally a good place to eat

my first visit, We heard that they had a new head chef and that the menu had changed...my wife had the herb encrusted scallops with chorize and saffon for an app... it was to die for... I ordered the beef tenderloin medium rare with potato and butternunt squash puree... I dont like squash...I could have eaten a bowl full of it... the steak came with wild and domestic mushrooms and carmalized onions with a red wine sauce.... the steak was cooked perfect. My wife had potato and leek soup... the meal was one of the best I have had in a very long time... if you read my reviews you will notice that I always find somthing that is not done properly... not here... We WILL BE BACK.....

    Bad experience. Really bad

Restaurants have off nights. Let's hope my last experience at the Breadalbane was just that. We go to here often, usually once every 2 months. Food has always been great. This most recent experience was pretty bad. The new menu they have introduced is fine. Lots of good choices. But the quality of the food served was a rip off. Breadalbane is known for their chicken wings, and whoever decided to change their wings is crazy. No doubt the worst wings ever. Mushy, horrible ketchup like sauce. I wasn't even sure they were cooked. The steak served was like leather. All the vegetables served as sides were hardly cooked. Like eating a raw potato. Cook your root vegetables more than 1 minute. It was horrible and hard. The worst part of the meal was our guests hamburger. Which was a sad excuse for a hamburger. It couldn't of been any dryer and had 1 small piece of tomato on it, and 1 dill pickle chip. Also served on a massive chewy jaw breaking bun. Not sure what happened here. Hopefully it was just an bad night. It's a great place and hopefully this horrid food was a one time thing. They also messed up our dessert order and the waitress didn't even notice. They knew we weren't happy. But nothing was said when the bill was placed on our table. 130 dollars. I feel like I was robbed. We have already watched one of our favorite restaurants in Fergus go completely down hill with some changes, we hope this doesn't happen with the Breadalbane. PS. Mangers must know they are known for the wings. So many people go here for their chicken wings. So why change it? Who's comes up with these ideas? A new chef? If it's delicious and has people talking why change it?

Another good meal at the Breadalbane.

This was my third time visiting the Breadalbane and we really enjoyed it. A great atmosphere with several large groups laughing it up and lots of families and couples everywhere. In terms of the food, what I ordered was delicious. I have no hesitations saying their chicken wings are the best I've had in years. This was my first time trying the braised pork ribs and I thought they were fantastic. Reminded me of something I would cook at home in the slow cooker. Soft and tender. Lots of restaurants out there will serve a very chewy rib, not here. Perfect ribs. My guest ate all her fish and she said it was fine. My second guest had a tough time with the duck flatbread. It was very dry. The menu says crispy duck, but was far from crispy. She gave up on that half way through. She then ordered the steamed PEI mussels which she had no problem eating. An entire pot herself. She said they were good. We then got two desserts. Sticky Toffee Pudding and a Strawberry Strudel. Both were very good, but the pudding was the winner. Served with cream and fresh strawberries. Overall this is a very good place to eat in Fergus. Good beer selection, great crowd and some delicious options on the menu. I try to eat here once every two months or so, and will surely be back.

How does this place stay in business?

Is it so hard to serve a decent cup of tea? Bilge water is more the title to suit what was in my cup. I even requested another one, and it was the same. My meal, (supposedly duck), was served COLD, and reminded me of Kit-e-Kat cat food. I had limp, sorry looking lettuce leaves. On politely asking the waitress to heat the Kit-e-Kat, she whipped it off, after a few minutes returned the same bowl - it was still luke warm. Gross. The 'Scottish Pie' was actutally a cheap shepherds pie with some bullet-like diced frozen veg thrown in, with soggy mash potato. eeeeeeewwwwww. Waitress with a pony tail had BAD attitude. Kit-e-Kat was taken off the bill. No-one said goodbye to us, or thanks for spending our money in there. Washroom (only one each of M&F) grungy. This is the second time we tried this place, and actually the first time was bad enough, but the second time was WORSE. Damp, musty and sticky. What must the kitchen be like? Don't eat in this restaurant. Do restaurants usually have a fly problem when it is -5 outside? Just wondering.... Luckily we were with some good friends - the company of who made sure the experience wasnt all bad. Thanks to Reg & Rita for a lovely day out.

Great visit, great food, great service!!

Amazing food and service!!! We are working out of town and asked around for a place to eat, we were sent here by some locals and had a few great nights. The food was great on all 3 occasions and the service was top notch. Thanks to everyone who works there and especially our most recent server Erin :) If you are in Fergus I highly recommend a visit!!
