Main Street Music

Streetsville’s Strings Attached Music Shop on Main Street was founded on a strong musical pedigree. Kevin Kennerney, an Irish musician, left his homeland to tour Canada and the United States back in the ’70s. Fearing his musically gifted son, Christian, might follow in his footsteps and go on permanent tour, the senior Kennerney set up Strings Attached in 1995, and side-by-side, father and son grew the business along with other family members. “It was kind of a sneaky way of keeping me responsible,” quips Christian. “But in hindsight, it worked out very well.”

Christian’s mother and manager contributed by coming up with the store’s name. “It’s sort of a take on the ‘no-strings attached’ come-on that big box stores promote, but it works well for what we’re doing here,” says Christian.
