Went for lunch at Sushi Ginza due to the great ratings on here. I am glad I went. The place was not busy at all and my friend and I got a table quickly. I had the sashimi salad lunch special and my friend had the Sushi Roll lunch special. Each special came with tempera chips, 2 pieces of calamari, 2 pieces of salmon type roll, a potato croquette, and fruits. I also ordered the torpedo roll (smoke salmon, tempera shrimp, tataki tuna) which is really delicious name maybe right. The sashimi salad was really yummy. Big portion all around. They don't cheap out on anything. The total was around $34. A pretty good deal for all the food we had. Love this oriental food Lire plus

I have been a customer since they first opened over ten years ago and the service is excellent as well. My boyfriend and I have visited Akasaka a few times now and have enjoyed every dining experience here. Although the owner is Chinese, he has studied in Japan and the chefs are Japanese. We agree that they serve up the best rolls in Richmond Hill. During our most recent visit here a couple of weeks ago, we enjoyed their 10 tation roll (unbelievably delicious lobster roll deep fried!), Crown Royal Roll (fois gras, eel, caviar & gold glitter), Super Rainbow (soft shell crab), and a few pieces of nigiri. Some of their rolls look questionable ('Thai' Passion, 'Korean' kim-chee roll), and being of Japanese descent, I avoided these. Thai/Korean twists should not be mixed or confused with Japanese rolls - surely they serve these to cater to Koreans and people who enjoy Thai food. We strictly stick to their rolls (and make an exception to some nigiri). Not every Japanese restaurant does well with bringing in top quality sashimi. The waiter did not bring us our dry noodle sticks which they bring to every table at no cost. We had to ask and later remind them twice. My boyfriend ordered us the green tea creme brulee for dessert as he enjoys it very much. The serving is very small, however it is quite delicious. Our bill came to approx $78 (no alcohol). The rolls are not cheap, but you pay to get top quality here. All the rolls we had were excellent - among my favourites were the 10 tation & Crown Royal rolls. If you've had them, you will understand what I mean. They are killer! The teppanyaki here is also very popular, as evidenced by the occupied tables. We however don't do teppanyaki, as you pay for the show. The food is not spectacular and if you're coming to a Japanese restaurant which is well-known for its rolls, its these items which one should stick with. Lire plus

Its only $15.99 & gets you an entire meal w/ drink too. we always have left overs cuz like most we end up filling up on salad, soup and that yummy warm endless garlic bread! We usually get a side of parm to butter n dip the bread in yum! I often order the pasta with half spicy arabata sauce and half bolognese and add veggies to the dish. BEST PHO IN ALL OF TORONTO! Their beef noodle broth is just stupendous! It doesn't contain as much fat and oil as you would expect from other restaurants which is really good! This is probably the only pho restaurant i would recommend to anybody. Though the atmosphere is not like a 5 star restuarant, the food sure makes up for it. DonDon Izakaya is Toronto's own little taste of Japan. I once visited Tokyo on a business trip, and I remember going to this strange thing called an "izakaya" on several occasions. I remember my first time: I didn't understand why we couldn't just order our own dishes or why it had to be so loud! But by the end of the night, after several decanters of sake had been shared among our group, it all just seemed perfect. DonDon kinda feels this way too. The food may not be gourmet, but it's a ton of fun to eat! (I've heard that we shouldn't expect high-quality foods from izakayas since they are more like pubs anyway!) And the atmosphere is spot on. Oh, and don't even get me started on the drinks. I fell in love with sake in Japan and we've been reunited at DonDon. I've only been to DonDon once, but I'll definitely be going back again! Wow ! What a great place to eat and have a good time. The food was delicious and and restaurant is beautiful now ! I was here for a party last week we had so much fun. They had music, people danced , great singer !! Our waiter made us laugh and is really good looking too . Last time i was here was 8 years ago and place looked kind of old fashioned and not well kept. Now they made changes in every way and I have to admit this restaurant is better than most in every way.
