I rated this Keg a 4 but that is a balance of infleucnes because there is a good side and a down side. The good: the cleavage OR the mini-skirts. Notice that checking out some cleavage on young ladies or short skirts is pure entertainment and super. BUt for some very strange reason no waitress has both of them. Its either this or that. What is the story? I dont know. The girls with cleavage have pants, the girls in minis have no cleavage. STRANGE> the other down side is the kids. People, if you have three kids can you ask them to stay at home or leave their baseball caps at home? this is a high class restaurant. There is a burger place around the corner did you mean to take them there? I am not going to come back and order alcohol if there are kids around. The steak was good, the wine was what we wanted and at a reasonable price and my date was the hottest blondie in the whole place but.... (see above) Lire plus

The Cheshire Cat Pub is a unique British style pub just outside of Kanata. When you walk in past the red telepone booth, it feels really authentic with the unusual "kitch" that you would find in pubs in England. We were just there, and found that they had taken off most of there regular drafts to replace them with Ontario craft beers. My husband was sad to not have a pint of Erdinger, but we learned that they were doing this to honour Ontario Craft Brew Week and found ourselves trying The Flying Monkey and a pint of Neustad 10w30 (beers I had never heard of!) Good for them we thought! We also learned that most of the menu incorporates local produce, meat and dairy. Anyway, the food was amazing! Pub fare, but with serious style. I had the Chicken Curry, my husband had the hamburger special and our friends both had the fish and chips. The service was friendly and laid back and the owner came up to introduce himself and made us feel like we had been coming for years. It was hopping busy! This is truly one of those places that we will return to time and time again! We can't believe we waited this long to come in! Lire plus

The innkeeper where I was staying recommended the Buttermilk Cafe for lunch, and it was exactly what I was looking for - casual dining with good food and service. It was obviously a popular place - it was almost full when I arrived, and I took that as a good sign but wondered whether the service would be slow. I was pleasantly surprised - I didn't have to wait long, and my server was friendly and efficient. I had the California chicken wrap, which was tasty and moist without being soggy. We are Maids Cottage regulars and have rarely if ever been disappointed. The food is as close to home cooked as you will ever get in any restaurant, in any city, anywhere in the world. We're not talking Haute Cuisine here but Comfort Food. Any of the rare times there has been anything that I didn't like or took to long (they can be very,very busy at times) the staff has been more than accommodating about making it right. Ate in restaurant first time. Food was amazing. Service was great, except it was very hard to hear the server due to dining area was extremely loud. Second time around, drove out of our way for a late dinner on the way to Muskoka. First time I had the meatloaf and my partner a burger. The meatloaf was moist and very flavourful with a heap of mashed potatoe piled on with crisp fried onions and gravy. Veggies were fresh carrots and cauliflower and peas, fresh not frozen! The burger was 2 patties on a hoagie with a hot sauce and fresh cut fries , enough for 2 people. The second time in my partner had the meatloaf, consistently as good as last time. I had one of the specials, a cajun blackened catfish, it was pretty good but not done the traditional scortching hot cast iron frypan way, just broiled. it was still good and moist and blackened far more than bronzed as requested. Service was efficient considering they were short of staff and the place was packed. Best try and make reservations if you can, or take your chances, it is always busy,a testament to the effort they put into their product. Food done the way that only pride and care can produce, great value and worth the extra effort to get there and the wait for seating. Restaurants that get it right deserve the patronage, this one certainly does. Lire plus

Live music Thurs/Fri/Sat nights, so it can be hard to get a spot - it's not a big pub. But the music and atmosphere are awesome, so it's totally worth it. The patio is amazing in the summer. Cooked perfectly and the service was the best i have ever recieved anywhere. An amazing dining experience all around from appetizer to dessert.
