It is like stepping back in time..where else can you order a soup and a half sandwich so that you have room for that delicious butterscotch pie?
The place is extremely clean and the staff is courteous and caring. I try to get there at least once a month...certainly worth the drive from Ottawa!

I awoke to a dead battery and was in a hurry. They didn't think they had someone there to go out on the call, but the dispatcher sent one of her son's. 5 minutes later they were at my home in Lanark and got me started. Price was reasonable (under $60/tax in) - emergency service is never cheap, but when they get someone to you in your time of automotive need - well it speaks volumes on how they value customers.

The service is great, friendly, and they always automatically bring 3 black coffee, 2 decaf, and 1 pepsi, before taking our order! we drive a ways on Saturdays, so they are busy, but service and food A-1 with us ! :)

I have been going here a very long time I love the service its quality of service is amazing and the atmosphere is very comforting from the time j walk in to the time I leave I am greeted with a smile. My all time favorite thrift store/ salvage shop. As a cheap-o and a DIY crafter. I love the old home renovation part... essentially people who renovate bring all of the old materials (doors, extra floorboards railing posts, windows, sinks etc. here instead of dumping them. You can buy retro on the cheep. Perfect for DIYers who need random materials but are flexible. Everything is super well priced. My one regret at moving to Ottawa is I'm now farther away from this store! <3

My cousin from Holland (owner of a travel agency) wanted a special menu with a capable Chef and a special place to celebrate his 50th Birthday on holiday in Canada. He found it in Slackoni's. The setting on the water was intimate and relaxed with music supplied by a classical guitarist. This was a multi-course meal and each was delivered with great presentation style and flavour. The group was delighted with anti-pasto dishes of vitello tomatol, smoked salmon, mini portabello mushrooms stuffed with shrimp and a mouth watering caprese salad. Moving inside to a cozy adjoining party room we were treated to a tasty seafood fettuccini pescatore. The main event was elk tenderloin in a maple bbq glaze. And for those who like desert, the ultimate..the zucotto "italian bomb cake" Amazing!
As per the menu, the wine was also chosen to compliment each course. It was a great event and everyone was thrilled. Our european guests, so used to eating in Paris were very impressed! Hats off to Slackoni's staff in delivering the service in keeping with the excellent food. Congratulations to all!

We go very often and are never disappointed! Best sticky toffee pudding; sandwiches are innovative without being over the top obnoxious; great fries that I believe are hand cut; very good variety of beverages; staff is friendly and knowledgeable; atmosphere is cozy and clean.
