Dropped in for lunch this week and was very pleasantly surprised to find this calibre of Japanese food in Peterborough. Excellent food. Very authentic. So much so it helps to be familiar with Japanese food before ordering (staff speak very little English). Fixed price for as much as you want on the menu. However a note on menu says you will be charged for what you don't eat. I thought that was an inspired way to prevent the waste usually associated with all you can eat restaurants. A little pricy but you certainly get your money's worth. Looking forward to a return visit for dinner. Lire plus

We ordered the Beef tenderloin crostini, pork belly, baby back ribs, and black cod. The pork belly was the crispest and least fatty that I've ever had, it was spectacular. The flavors on the crostini were very good, the cherry chutney and dijon aioli went very well together. And the ribs... much better than any I've had at a Ribfest. My GF said the black cod was the tastiest fish she had ever had. The ambiance is nice cottage country, the dining room intimate with only four tables. A definite repeat!. Lire plus

The people who run this restaurant are always so friendly! To top that off, the food is great. I really enjoy their palak paneer especially. They're also great with accomodating tastes. I like my food spicy, while my other family members are not so keen on it. When I order spice levels all over the map, it's never screwed up. Always perfect for each person. Haven't been here for a while and was pleasantly surprised to find that they have redecorated. Replaced a number of tables with booths and that makes it much nicer inside. Food is great. Lots of variety. Excellent prices. The one thing about this place that annoys me is that they never bring your bill to the table -- I always have to go to the cash to find out how much the bill is and pay. When we visit Whitby, we get our take out chinese food from Maple Garden. The best we've found. Rice is very good, same with chicken balls, curry dishes, General Tso chicken, egg rolls... and on and on. Not greasy, as is in a different store a few doors down the road.. And the woman who runs the place is so nice and friendly. And I guess it's her son who takes the orders, also pleasant. Definately recommend Maple Garden without a doubt. Lire plus

We usually do take outs on weekends but went their for lunch on weekday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It didn't look big buffet but wow had lots of varieties to eat and especially fresh nan and tandoori chicken. Not big on Indian desserts too sweet for me.
