The new space is lovely- refined but traditional. Tasteful, the art, lighting, linens. Food and wine has always been consistently wonderful. Service is always exceptional, so nice to have professional waiters. Also really appreciate the lovely personal service when making a reservation. A fantastic restaurant. The service was top-notch. The waiter was incredibly knowledgeable and was a wealth of information when questioned. They were attentive to our every need and ended up making for what has got to be a world-class experience. The food was fantastic and the Chef even shared a complimentary corn soup antipasto with our table... again, it was fantastic! Thanks for your attention to detail and for the great ambiance! I have eaten in most restaurants downtown, and one day decided to try Abruzzo. First impression was that is it a little too old style - decor was quite old fashioned. But over all nice and quiet. The food though makes up for short coming in the decor department. I can't say that they were as good as home made italian food, but came pretty darn close. While Osteria is not designed to be particularly "child friendly," the staff went out of their way to keep our hungry toddler happy during a wait that took longer than anticipated (these things happen when you wander in on a Friday night without reservations). The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. If I lived in the neighborhood this is definitely a place where I could become a regular. And in the end, the food was well worth the wait. Hey! I recently found out that I am alergic to wheat of all things, so I figured I was condemned to a no pizza existence, which for me is a fate worse than death. BUT WAIT! Last week I went to my old buddy Pizza Bob's plave in Calgary, and tied something new. A gluten free pizza! That means, it has no wheat flour at all. I had the newest gluten free offering, which was the gluten free pulled pork. WHOA! Instead of tomatoe sauce, they have a buttery pork kind a gravy on it. Anyways, the sauce was amazing, and the pizza was the best I ever had at Pizza Bobs. I actually enjoyed it MORE than my usual, which used to me "Ami's Favorite". Wow, I hope more restaurants start serving gluten free food, because I was amazed that it could be so good. How about a gluten free bagel or croisant? Do they exist? I'm gonna find out. Try this pulled pork pizza, if you don't flip over it, I will be shocked. Yummie! Of course, the rest of my Pizza Bob experience was the usual... great friendly people, live blues music and Kareokee on the weekends. Kensington rd at crowchild. I love it. Lire plus
