The first thing i notice when i walked into POGUE MAHONES was that all the waitresses wore plaid thigh-length skirts - i am glad i arrived here! It is a kind of dark place with dark wood all over. Also it is a very busy and noisy place, i can barely hear myself talking. The waiters/waitresses were very attentive as they came back every once in awhile to check on our needs a few times. All of our food arrive fresh and hot. My coffee was fresh and scalding hot, it came in a generous sized mug too. My seafood chowder was hot and it was very creamy, not bad! My chicken wings were satisfactory, no complaints here! Okay now my Grand Spuds with irish-poutine-style sucked!!! The fries had melted cheese and gravy on top, but the freshcut homemade fries, tasted totally off. My friend who had fries in his dish also complained about the fries tasting YUCK! My other friends were very satisfied with their dishes (fish n chips, liver n onions w mashed potato, chicken pot pie w mashed potatoes, jambalaya). Good service, satisfactory food, unpleasant atmosphere (too noisy)... would i visit again? i dont think i will. Overall satisfactory! Lire plus

This place is overpriced for what you get. My friend and I shared a light dinner, a glass of wine each and tea, and our bill (with tip and tax) came to $100. I ordered the gnocci in tomato sauce, which was very good, and the bread was tasty. But for a meatless meal with no dessert and no appetizer, the prices are too high. It seems like you're paying for atmosphere. The service was pretty good, but at the end when it got busier we had to signal for service. I think there's better value out there for the money. Seemed like a lot of people there could "expense" their dinners, which explains the crowd. Lire plus

This is truly one of the best Mexican restaurants around. The atmosphere is simple and as stated in other reviews, the seating is limited. The service was relatively fast and pleasant. What we ordered is listed below. Everything was fresh, delicious and the platters were balanced and well presented. It is clear that there is an underlying culinary passion at this restaurant that is rarely found these days. Reasonable prices make this an ideal spot for lunch or dinner.
